Discussion: Trump's New Chief Of Staff Once Called Him A 'Terrible Human Being'

I guess he just missed all those shots of John Kelley with his face in his hands. SMDH while LOL

Hereā€™s the fun part, Mick. Heā€™s still a terrible human being and will always be one, but now that terrible human being is going to make your life a living hell and will destroy what little respect or goodwill anyone mightā€™ve had for you. Good luck. Enjoy!

True enough. Tell you what, Iā€™ll bet that he lasts longer than we think but I wonā€™t bet much.

The Greeks had a term-kakistocracy, the rule of a society by its worst members. But at least they didnā€™t have Twitter so you only had to hear from your worthless rulers occasionally.

Iā€™m a terrible gambler anyway - I donā€™t really like it.

Hereā€™s what Iā€™m reading on another tab on this rainy afternoon. Good piece on deprogramming entrenched political beliefs, btw. Didnā€™t even have to scroll:

We can understand Donald Trumpā€™s rise as a civil religion giving way to its cultic expression. Con man, cult leader, populist politician: Trump is all of these, rolled into one. He has become all-encompassing, even to nonbelievers. We all feel the fatigue of merely existing in the Trump era, the rapid-fire assault on all of our political and social senses. We want immediate solutions to the Trump problem. We want to beat reason into his followers, until they recognize how wrong they are, or at the very least, submit. We want to blame themā€”justifiablyā€”for perpetuating his sham.

Me either. Most pointless form of sin as far as my own research indicates.

I think he will last - unless he pisses off Trump, or gets shivved by Jared and Ivanka. Why - because he is both a sadist and an ideologue like Steven Miller. Mulvaney is to the safetynet programs what Miller is to immigration. And I think he will tolerate nearly anything to have the chance to obliterate SS Medicaid and Medicare - along with any program (like Free and reduced lunch programs in k12 schools) that help those in need. I think his views of the social net (there should be none) are even more extreme than those of Paul Ryan.

Amen. If I believed in sin. :sunglasses:

We have friends who love the casinos and donā€™t understand why we donā€™t. I canā€™t think of much that is sadder, frankly, than spending time throwing money away to get more money.

If slot machines paid off in diamond bracelets, theyā€™d have me. Quarters and dimes (Iā€™m assuming, having never done it) just bore the shit out of me.

Well, he better hop to. This is the part of the movie even before the opening credits where we see the new sheriff riding into town.

Oh and hereā€™s a famous filmic version of thatā€”a guy wondering what the hell ails this town he just blew into anyway. Hey Mick, if youā€™re reading this, check it out, dude:

That sounds a lot like a cacastocracy.

What we have is probably more an Idiocracy.

Now that made me laugh. And in an era where laughs are hard to come by, I send genuine kudos.

This is another instance when the wayback machine, aka video/print archives, comes to bite said candidate in the ass. I really like Mulvaney insisting on the word ā€˜actingā€™ before COSā€“to ensure a quick, painless exit.

I wouldnā€™t count on the ā€˜quickā€™ or the ā€˜painless,ā€™ only on the inevitable ouster by Trumpski.

But really, you canā€™t make this stuff up!

I tried watching that movie once but couldnā€™t do it.

Because you didnā€™t like it? Or because its searing truth was too painful to endure?

Itā€™s depressing in its accuracy.

O god I love Kurosawa. I think Iā€™ve seen almost all of them.

I always have had such a crush on Toshiro Mifune.

Both. Iā€™d have rather read a scathing limerick.

Trump: I am punishing Mulvaney by paying him the salary of 1 person while he does two jobs that no one wants to do. I win.

Did you see Mifune and Lee Marvin in that WWII movie, Hell in the Pacific, where they were enemies stranded on a Pacific island?
