It doesn’t expose those Republicans enough.
If it will poison the air and water or endanger the welfare of the nation, the Trump maladministration is for it.
Excellent news for Democrats.
If this doesn’t work he will go to war.
Everything Trump touches turns to shit. Way to go, Republicans, may the Trump carnage wipe you off the congressional map.
Those words “excellent news for” historically carry a certain amount of irony-laden idiomatic freight at this site, you know . . .
Like someone else said on another site, “Legal weed is about the only thing that the Teabaggers and the progressives agree on.”
Good going, Donnie and Jeffy! You are going to get fucked over like you will not believe.
Voters did not ask for offshore drilling or crack downs on legalized pot. This stuff is being pushed out now while they are able to do it. Sessions opposes legalized marijuana so this is all him. Come November it is all over but the shouting.
Yes. If you want nice things anything that doesn’t suck, vote Democratic.
So, no offshore drilling for Rick Scott. I assume he will get his way. Offshore drilling with lax regulation will only be for blue states. Kind of like the tax bill is for hitting blue states harder.
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke announced a plan to open up vast tracts of both the Atlantic and Pacific coastlines for offshore oil and gas drilling leases on Thursday afternoon,
Oh Zinke… I’m waiting for your ship to sink.
I know just where they should put the first new drilling platform. Just off-shore of Mar-a-Lago.
I think they know the end is near and the are trying to eff up everything they can before they get kicked out of office. Nothing more dangerous than a cornered animal.
I don’t see how this will hurt GOP incumbents. All they have to do is say, “That is the Justice Department acting. I had nothing to do with it.” Bias toward one’s own representative, as well as gerrymandered districts, will do their usual magic and incumbents will be reelected.
But they still have to announce their position on the actions taken by a R misadministration. If they back it, they are subject to voter backlash, if they reject it, perhaps $ flowing from Leadership PACs and other big money donors in the Oil and Gas world my not be so willing to fund them
There’s a lot of money in legalized pot - the GOP might be facing a lot more opposition from this than they expect.
And I wonder about the value of coastal drilling right now - there’s an oversupply of oil right now that OPEC is trying to constrain with production cuts. More production outside of OPEC would just reduce prices. Trump can offer offshore leases, but how many companies will be willing to make the investment? (This could be wishful thinking on my part - it’ll be easier to restore coastal protections if the lease sale is a bust)
They didn’t ask for this? YES THEY DID. They voted Republican. That IS Republican.
I think California should not have a single solitary Republican in Congress or the State Lege. Yes, this is TRUMP’S CABINET, approved by MITCH MCCONNELL, really, Issa and Nunes etc had nothing to do with it.
Right?
Kevin McCarthy, Devin Nunes, good bye and good riddance.
I think that’s a realistic scenario: between the tax bill, offshore drilling, and a revived war on legalized marijuana, it’s easy to see California Republicans getting wiped off the map.
So winning isn’t the point.
They are executing their plan of freedom — to make everyone behave in the way they think they should, while they themselves flirt with little girls, launder money, and praise Jesus on Sunday morning.
