You’ll recall that when bush was reelected he started with a push for Social Security reform, i.e. doing away with it while saying he had a mandate to do so. It became a hot potato and he had to drop because he didn’t run on it, it never came up, and stupid illiterate ignoramus wouldn’t have heard about it and wouldn’t have read about it.

U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., who is expected to face a competitive re-election bid this year, urged federal officials to work with Nevada leaders to navigate the new policy.
Heller last year penned a letter asking Sessions to continue the Obama administration’s hands-off approach to marijuana enforcement.
In a statement issued Thursday, he did not exactly lament the Attorney General’s decision to ignore that request.
"Knowing Attorney General Sessions’ deference to states’ rights, I strongly encourage the (Department of Justice) to meet with Governor Sandoval and Attorney General Laxalt to discuss the implications of changes to federal marijuana enforcement policy," Heller said.

Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt, a Republican who stumped from Trump and is now running for governor, said Thursday that while he opposed the ballot initiative that legalized pot in the Silver State, his office has defended the law in courts while assisting the formulation of regulations for the legal pot industry.
“The Office of the Nevada Attorney General is reviewing the DOJ’s letter on the withdrawal of the Cole Memorandum, and evaluating the ramifications for our State,” Laxalt said.
Gov. Brian Sandoval, the termed-out Republican who Laxalt is looking to replace, issued a similar statement praising Nevada’s legal pot businesses and promising to review the federal memo that could allow a crackdown on the industry.
Sandoval said he was looking forward to receiving “further guidance” on the move from Dayle Elieson, an assistant U.S. attorney in Texas who was named as Nevada’s top federal prosecutor on Wednesday.
Elieson’s appointment, unveiled just a day before the roll back of pot protections was announced, only added to the uncertainty felt by pot business owners.

So here’s the thing, out here in the Golden State. The remaining (R) Representatives are generally clustered into a few distinct demographic areas:
-
Inland agriculture (severely screwed over by Trump’s anti-trade policies)

Coastal areas around Orange County (close to Ground Zero from the Santa Barbara oil spill and still feeling the aftereffects)
-
Northern wooded counties (who were counting on a nice new legal cash crop)
All of which adds up to, well…

I heard on NPR today that a Northern California Fed prosecutor resigned this week. His interim replacement will be appointed by you-know-who. Time will tell but maybe that’s one prosecutor who will actually follow through for Jeffy… because California.

I said this earlier n I’ll say it again: while its Sessions’s job to ‘loudly say’: “The DOJ runs s— n don’t you states forget it.”, the McConnell way would have been to duck this issue until at least '19 and to constantly go for the congressional wins.
Don’t have Nevada’s senior senator run out there and act as if a term limited governor and a craven (?) state AG is his backup , when its clear that Laxhalt is likely dreaming of being the next governor, you got three dudes who aren’t on the same page and only one of em (Sandoval) is running for just his legacy.
