Discussion: Trump's Commerce Pick Says Renegotiating NAFTA Will Be A Priority

No Democrat should embrace protectionism nor should they embrace isolationism.

If those former Democrats are good for those types of embraces, they should be reminded that there are bad consequences to that.

Of course not - but we need to do a much better job of showing the benefits and in shoring up the folks who are hardest hit by these deals.

Millions of people getting lifted out of poverty in China and Mexico does not sell well to people who have lost good paying jobs. It is a complex issue for sure, but we have been especially poor at providing real solutions to the loss of these jobs. We did not do enough to show what was being done to help, and in a lot of cases, simply nothing was done to help.

For example, allowing foreclosures to go forward at a record pace while allowing the big banks that caused the mess to survive, flourish and become even bigger. The democrats had what could have been an FDR moment in 2008 and instead it became painfully obvious they did not want to piss off their biggest donors.

How about reminding folks that 1100 jobs are still on their way to Mexico.?

N that those folks can thank an Indiana governor for making that choice.
