Discussion: Trump Weighs In On Scott Pruitt: 'I Hope He's Going To Be Great'

I suspect Pruitt will weather this storm. He is the most devious and corrupt of the Trump Cabinet and the most important tool in the Koch’s arsenal right now (except maybe Pence as the insurance policy).

Trump will not fire Pruitt over this, at least that is my prediction. He’s too important to the Kochs.

Wow, I now have hope that Pruitt may soon have to hide in his Cone of Silence to avoid being fired… nah, I shouldn’t be that optimistic…

The problem with your analysis is that there is probably more and worse news coming.
Pruitt is not just corrupt—he’s also crazy and paranoid.

Scott Pruitt may disappear as an issue - listen to what Trump is saying at the WH right now. He just credited himself (in the third person) with rescuing NATO; slammed “crooked Hillary” in an international meeting, is ranting about Amazon and appears to me to be unraveling. If one of his staffers doesn’t step in soon to end this, there will be headlines for days. (and just once, I want one of the foreign leaders to say, “I’m not going to play this game with this idiot.”

“I hope he’s going to be great,” Trump said, according to a White House pool report.

What does THAT mean?

It’s the first in the 12 steps iDiJiT will take before he fires him outright.

The word great has a very elastic definition these days.

As in, if Scott Pruitt and his problems disappeared it would be great?

I hope he’s going to be gone.

Well, I’ll take a crack at that. I think it means Trump doesn’t want to spend any political capital actually defending Pruitt in a serious way, but he doesn’t want to outright fire him either, since that would be admitting a mistake. So he’ll just watch impassively to see if he can survive however long it takes until something pushes this off the front pages. He’s pretending he doesn’t have a dog in the fight, it’s all just out there somewhere in an alternate Executive Branch for which he has no responsibility.

“I hope he’s going to be great, this person, that guy, over there. They don’t even have a name for him. He’s tippy-top shape though. That guy. Over there.” Trump said, according to a White House pool report.

WTF? Pruitt’s been EPA head for about a year. He’s destroying the agency, as hired to do. Can’t you make a better assessment of talent and accomplishment at this point? Let’s see the written first year job evaluation.

I assume you meant to add “in public.” I would be amazed if at least one leader hasn’t said this in private.

That’s been true for a long time, at least since the campaign. I don’t think he’s unraveling because he’s never been raveled.

I’d say I’ll take two of whatever Trump downs every morning, but I have things to do during the day.

More reality show talk from the reality show (ie fake) president.

You’ll hear a sigh of relief from me and my neighbors when’s he gone. We’re his target.

Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt is pushing the move to weaken emissions standards in California, siding with auto manufacturers that argue vehicle fuel efficiency standards put in place by the Obama administration will cost billions of dollars. On Thursday, he said he would move “very, very soon” to roll them back.

Yes, I meant “in public” I can’t even imagine what other leaders must say about Trump (and us, unfortunately) in private.
