It was strange to begin with that the tariffs were supposed to apply to everyone, including our allies Canada and Mexico, which export a great deal more steel to the US than China does. So, perhaps the real purpose of the âtariffâ announcement was to put pressure on Canada and Mexico in the NAFTA discussions, which have gone nowhere so far, so that the Dotard can announce a big âwinâ on NAFTA. What that would be, I canât imagine. The Dotard clearly doesnât understand the complexity of the trade relations involved, nor the US manufacturing and agricultural interests that would be negatively affected if he gets his way.
