And the GOP remains silent as the current President defecates on our Country and Democracy.

The man is pure vinegar + water.

He is utterly irrelevant at this point. No one - I suspect even his vaunted base - pays any attention to his inane tweets. Sure, his “policies” are still doing plenty of damage … but who’d ever think we’d see the day when the POTUS is considered so moronic that no one pays attention to his words.

If you’re going to violate the Hatch Act might as well go all the way I guess.

But of course, that is the real point of Trump isn’t it? Laws, like taxes, are only for the little people.

Errata: as @litho points out, the chief executive may be exempt from this act, but I’ve been thinking of moral collapse – democratic norms in particular – and Justice Louis Brandeis’ dissenting opinion in Olmstead quite a bit recently viz Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; ….

This, as much as anything, defines the poison that is Trumpism: It is not just what he does, it is what he allows; what his example encourages.

Anytime now, Mr. Mueller, any time…

Moore has denied the accusations.

Because he always asked their mothers first.

This scary dotard is bringing “stupid is as stupid does” to a whole new level of cultural relevance.

A lot of working journalists in the commentariat immediately pointed out how this signals to oppressive foreign governments that our own doesn’t regard CNN International as a legitimate news organization. Leaves them out there on their own, without any implicit promise of support for them from their own government if they’re mistreated abroad. And strangely enough this happened on the same day:

Putin just signed a law requiring foreign news outlets, e.g. CNNi, to register as foreign agents https://t.co/GhZ6Eof8fo

Except, of course, that the president is expressly exempt from the Hatch Act.

Gosh, one might think that they might have touched on this topic during their HOUR-LONG phone conversation. Besides all of the obvious implications, what in God’s name could anyone talk to Donald Trump for an hour … besides himself, of course.

Putin probably just puts the phone on the desk and does paperwork while Trump yammers about himself. That’s my understanding of how every conversation with him goes. Typically a bit one-sided, from what I hear.

I like to think that Putin might be making funny faces when Trump yammers.

Don’t fool yourself. Trump’s base still pays attention to his tweets. However, whether his tweets and support will be enough to enable a known child molester to be elected to the Senate remains to be seen.

Nice of Generalissimo Trump to offer a shout-out to the regime’s Low-Information-Ministry, a service contracted out to the Fox-PRAVDA “news” bureau.

And meanwhile, the deconstruction of our country, the building of the new infrastructure for the American oligarchy, and the debasement of America’s authority and stature in the world continue. Mueller and Democrats in Congress must keep their eye on the ball, as must the media keep investigating and reporting the truth of what is being done. Hopefully, those in the country who have been continually fooled will begin to come to that realization and decide to change the course of their lives.

Well, Donnie was drawing little hearts and practicing writing his married name during that call.

Don’t rush to judgment Kat. You might find yourself in the same predicament as the WH sage and have to issue a clarification along the lines of “The statement I made on Saturday, the first statement, was a fine statement, but you don’t make statements that direct unless you know the facts. It takes a little while to get the facts. You still don’t know the facts.”
