Discussion: Trump To Order Review Of H-1B Visa Program In Wisconsin

Trump will sign the “Buy American and Hire American” order during his trip to Kenosha, Wisconsin, the White House told reporters on Monday.

The week of the summit, ***3.4 tons of Ivanka Trump handbags, wallets and blouses arrived in the U.S. from Hong Kong and Shanghai.*** U.S. imports of her merchandise grew an estimated 40 percent in the first quarter of this year, according to Panjiva Inc., which maintains and analyzes global shipping records.

“The executive order will not make any changes to the visa program” - So a lot of show to produce nothing…show, btw, entirely being footed by tax payers.

“it would simply initiate a review” - Governmental reviews are almost the definition of nothing…its busy work…again on the tax payer’s dime…to justify existence.

“order the Labor, Justice, Homeland Security and State Departments to come up with changes to ensure that the visas go to the highest skilled workers” - Highly skilled workers is a subjective term. And no review process is going to change that to an objective measure.

“It would also direct those agencies to strictly enforce the laws governing the H-1B program, per the White House.” - Or in other words, tell them to do their jobs. Which they are supposed to be doing anyway.

So quite literally…this “order” does not one single thing. But signing it requires Trump to fly to Wisconsin to politic on the tax payers dime.

I know Republicans are just hypocritical, lying frauds but will this administration do ANYTHING except by Executive Order? It seems like Trump issues one as often as he tweets and Congress goes on vacation or whines about the pesky ‘hidden’ liberals in government that are keeping them from doing their jobs…WTF?

People who come here on an H1B are tech workers, not gang members. Mostly, I think Trump just wants to punish the tech industry and/or regions of the country where the tech industry is located.

My sentiments exactly. My first impression on reading the headline was what was so important about the H-1B program in Wisconsin. Then I read the article and the answer was: nothing.

Maybe should’ve typed in random caps.

Either that or never break character :kissing_heart:

Well, Cray Inc, in Chippewa Falls, WI, could be a large H1B employer. (That is the only hi-tech WI company I can recall on my feet).

They would probably not benefit from restrictions, though.

Hopefully not.

Ironically, H-1B has been a corrupt mess pretty much forever. It drives down wages, facilitates outsourcing, and acts essentially as indentured servitude for the workers who are imported. But I don’t expect for a minute that any review by this administration would produce recommendations that would improve any of that.

Wisconsin has many medical device and pharma companies.

Trump is demonstrating to an important electoral constituency he’s committed to ridding them of the swarthy brown menace intent on raping their wives and daughters and blowing up their schools.

The headline is misleading and should be changed. The executive order will affect all of the US. It is merely being signed in Wisconsin.

Time to impose a 38.5% border tariff on Chinese imports.

He loves to play king with these executive orders, but the stunts are wearing thin. It’s as if he has nothing else to do but start a war…
