Well I knew the week was going to be bananas, no disappointment on that account.

Where are all the furloughed republicans? They should be hollering at their MOC loudly.

No pay for border patrol for years and years? That certainly proves how much ya care about border security.

Really fucking stupid thing to say, so yeh, we know Trump said it.

Trump is going to destroy the few moderates left in his party. Gardner and Collins, and McSally, and probably Earnst and Tillis had better figure out a way to get this to end, or they can start packing up their offices, because they are going to be out on their ass come 2020.

That Trump’s cronies are not only getting paid, but getting raises while stories of people getting hurt keep multiplying is just the last nail in the coffin.

p.s. and since every hearing to exclude and deport folks is on hold, and the enforcement system is on hold for now, what keeping part of the government shut for two years would really do is open up the border. Perhaps Trump is trying to increase the work force of illegals for his resorts.

No, not Drumpf.

McConnell. McConnell can end this shutdown this afternoon. His advantage is that few people are articulating this.

PASS IT ON!!!

Same place all the farmers with mountains of rotting soybeans are, still on Trump’s side.

It’s a cult.

Gee, I must have missed the part of the 13th Amendment that exempted Federal employees?

Is dereliction of duty an impeachable offense? With this latest statement he may keep the government shut down “for months or even years,” Trump is most certainly violating his oath “to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States” against all enemies foreign and domestic. More and more every day Trump proves himself to be our enemy!

Don’t negotiate with terrorists. Trump gets nothing.

Probably he just held his breath.

It feels to me that Dems have shifted the issue to 1. Open the gov’t first, 2. we’ll talk about border security, not wall. Trump’s people keep making statements de-emphasizing ‘wall’ while Trump himself insists on shutting the gov’t. His strategy is to up the ante and make Democrats take blame for the shutdown while his base sticks with him. For Dems, the issue is really one of resolve. If they stay committed to their position, there really isn’t much of a way for the GOP to win. You saw that last night with 4 Senate GOPers balking at Trump’s shutdown. For the GOP, the issue is managing the unpopularity of a Trump shutdown in states that the GOP needs to do well in to retain control of the Senate and to win the Presidency.

to be fair (I know, I know) they were promised $12 billion dollars to make up for it. Of course, with the shutdown their applications for the payola (errr, compensation) are on hold, but hey - they’re used to waiting whole seasons for their payoffs, right?

Ah, the incredible irony of the “lower taxes, smaller government” crowd who eagerly holds their hands out for taxes from other citizens.

The moment McTurtle feels his seat or the GOP majority is in danger would be a good reference point.

So…his 2020 campaign slogan is going to be, A vote for me is a vote for nobody? I’ll make sure the padlocks stay on? I’ll build a wall between Americans and their government?

It’s really a brilliant political strategy. About the only person Trump can beat at this point is nobody…maybe.

Words. Language. Ask Frank Luntz about those. I’m certainly no person to tell a Senator or Speaker how to go about their job but I would not use the language they use if I was in their position. “holding the government hostage to get his unpopular wall” “extorting Congress to get a wall he said Mexico would pay for just to save his face” “what good are jobs jobs jobs if you wont let the people with them work them” “Mexico is not paying a thing. Federal workers are paying the price” “this wall is not about security or America. It’s about Trump and he can pay for it if he wants it”

I’d avoid shutdown or any description of the mess I could be attached to. If you just took Trump out of the picture and left Congress exactly as it was on day one of this farce the farce would not be. It’s Trump’s. Without Trump there’d be no shut down. He must fix it.
