At some point regardless of the law. Fed workers required to work would not show up for work or workers would just quit. Trump saying he would shut down the gov’t for months or even years is just hilarious. These workers would quit and go look for another job.

The DNC should plaster the airwaves with the session whereupon Trump proudly and loudly proclaimed he would take the mantle for the shutdown, and promised not to blame it on the Democrats. Has anyone seen a single damned issue ad, anywhere, where Dems have taken advantage of footage and/or audio from that meeting? WTF? I believe the technical term for that in a government job is “nonfeasance,” and yes, I would certainly think that could be an impeachable offense. The real question is: could you get a substantial number of Senate Republicans to vote for it.

The Senate and Congress can re-open the Government if the Congress overrides a Trump veto.
That requires a 2/3 vote in-favor of the override in each chamber.
I believe they would have the votes if Mitch would allow a vote.

Bingo. As I said earlier today, Mitch is very good at gauging the the wind’s direction. He’s also one of the few politicians who can get away with pissing into the wind without getting wet. People do not like shutdowns. More people are against Trump’s wall than are for it. Hope this is one time Mitch miscalculated.
