Discussion: Trump Tells Mattis To Indefinitely Ban Transgender Recruits

So Mattis ( supposedly a man of high honor) is willing to implement this policy? Is there a box potential recruits check that identifies their sexuality? Maybe few trans individuals will want to serve anymore after they’ve been treated like this - I wouldn’t blame them.

I’m sure that all of the people in the United States who were in favor of banning transgender recruits will immediately volunteer to serve in the armed forces. It is now safe for them to fight for their country.

When blacks were segregated in the military, there was a rationalization by the federal government for that form of sanctioned bigotry.
When women were prevented from combat, there was a rationalization given for that.
When gays were barred from serving, another rationalization.
And now, it’s the transgendered Americans who are the subject of persecution.

The repeated draft dodger orange moron does this. I’m sure his cult worshipers will follow his lead, won’t serve, and blame Obama.

Everything Trump touches dies… and it seems there is no exception to that iron law.

Disgraceful piece of shit.

The only hope is that, like all others, the rights arrived delayed but did indeed arrive.

Sorta paints Mattis, et al, into a corner. What’s he/they gonna do?

Since he opposes allowing Transgenders from entering the service, I don’t think it will be that difficult of an ORDER to follow. The current policy PROHIBITS transgender individuals from entering service, so there isn’t really much of a change required.

Let me clarify, transgenders can and will be allowed to enter service, they just have to serve as the gender that is aligned with their genetics and not their feelings/desires.

Follow orders

They are by the tens of thousands a year.

His internal polls must be cratering if he feels the need to do this and pardon Arpaio on the same day. Do you suppose he’s seeing a depletion of his base?

No, maybe, like Mattis and the vast majority of senior leadership, he doesn’t agree with Ash Carter’s decision to unilaterally lift the ban on Obama’s way out the door.

Transgender individuals can still serve, they will just have to serve, like they have for years, in the gender aligned with their genetics and not with their desires.

The long view here is the role of POTUS in our government. We need to carefully, as a country, re-evaluate the balance of power between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government. POTUS as king should be illegal. That was the basic idea in 1776. We’ve been on a slippery slope for awhile here thanks to the gridlock caused by our two party system.

Frankly, I like the Unity Party idea a lot. Not that it’s doable, but it sure sounds good. We’ve got to do something soon, or the frustration of the US electorate is going to produce a dictator/king/fuhrer/emperor/pharaoh/czar. They’ve gotten pretty close this time, but this clown and his gang of international thugs days are numbered. He knows it and is desperatly trying to hand out as many decrees as he can before the indictments fly.

Nope. All branches of the military have seen recruitment numbers go down over the last few years. And why wouldn’t they? Perpetual war, decreasing benefits, rising suicide rate of soldiers, etc. only make joining the military a last resort situation.

They’re desperate for warm bodies and THIS garbage isn’t going to make their lives any easier.

In his directive to Mattis, Trump said he found that his predecessor’s transgender policy was flawed.
“In my judgment, the previous administration failed to identify a sufficient basis to conclude” that ending the longstanding ban on transgender service would not “hinder military effectiveness and lethality"

Oh yeah, Trump wrote that.

Those are undoubtedly not Trump’s words, but the reference to his predecessor’s policy sure confirms his motivation for issuing this ban.

A transgender bunny rabbit serving in the military would have more “military effectiveness” than a 4 time draft dodger. If “budgetary constraints” ( the costs of transgender therapy ) are of concern it might be a good idea to give a gander at the cots of treating PSTD as its about 3 orders of magnitude higher than that of trans therapy. And if you’ve never been in a “unit” shut your pie hole on the topic of “unit cohesion”. I spent 10 years in “units” and all that mattered to me was whether you could get my back or not. If you could stand up in the heat I didn’t give a thought to anything else about you.

You ban Trans when your base is getting itchy. No wall. ACA alive and kicking and Carrier Air is already in Mexico. Gotta do something? You can’t boot the trans folks already in the military unless you want to see them on the Sunday Morning news shows for the next 6 months. As well as piss off their Unit Commanders if they’re good soldiers. So what is the politically motivated and politically expedient thing to do? What’s being done. Perhaps some MSM’er will ask, although I won’t hold my breath, why if Trans folks are so bad you’d let the ones serving continue to do so?
