May you find peace.

And they can’t be moved off it. It’s ingrained in them.

I’d bet this attitude is as influenced by personal tribal/cultural affilations as most other political stances are.

If the vets he is referring to aren’t strong, what does that say about a man who loses sleep over criticisms from an ex-Miss Universe?

Is he just trying to lose the election at this point?

A draft dodger who has something seriously wrong with his mental has the gall to say that. The guy is a terrible, despicable animal.

Buzzfeed has this:

ā€œWhen people come back from war and combat and they see maybe what the people in this room have seen many times over, and you’re strong and you can handle it, but a lot of people can’t handle it,ā€ Trump said.

There was a silence in the room after his statement, and people on social media were quick to express anger toward his comments. Trump’s campaign did not officially respond to a request for comment.

We know what will happen – they will double it down if and when they respond.

People who ask how people can support Trump after making these absurd statements don’t understand the authoritarian mindset. They don’t support Trump in spite of these things, they support him because of these things. There’s no critical thinking or analysis here. He’s a personification of a lifetime of their hatred and fear, and they’ll fall in lockstep behind him no matter what.

Virtually all of Trump’s political utterances can be boiled down to ā€œHey everybody, look at my big swinging dick!ā€

At least they had the defense of ignorance.

The fact that whether you get PTSD has little or nothing to do with the individual’s moral, physical or mental health is almost completely established now, both within the scientific literature and in the mainstream.

He should know. Obviously he’s not strong and can’t handle things like a woman challenging him.

Today, he’s attacking vets. Next, up, he’ll be attacking infants.

ā€œThey can’t do anything! Sad! All they do is sleep and cry! Horrible human beings!ā€

I would love nothing better than to dress him in camo, paint his face green, hand him a weapon and then plop him down in the jungles of the Mekong delta where lots of folks are walking around searching for him so they can kill him. He doesn’t know jackshit about ā€œbeing strongā€ and those of use who were there are more than just offended by his ignorance and stupidity. Can a single vet actually justify supporting him?

I can’t believe that the campaign won’t issue a statement before the day is out apologizing for creating the impression that vets with PTSD are weaker than those not suffering from it or some similar argle-bargle.

But, Trump’s Razor, so who the hell knows.

Maybe he can make all his money back by writing all her ads for her when she runs for re-election in 2020.

He’s doing a bang-up job of it for free this time around.

Well, he does have a Purple Heart, you know…

I had a law partner who had spent 6 years in the Hanoi Hilton. He was in general the happiest man I ever knew, because he never sweated the small stuff – and after what he had been through, it was pretty much all small stuff. Except, he spent a lot of time working with and supporting his fellow former POWs and other vets who had PTSD, trying to prevent suicides and help in any way he could. Even when he himself was dying of cancer. He had more strength in the nail of his pinky toe than Donald Trump has ever or will ever have.

RIP Ron Bliss.

Seeking help with and confronting a mental health issue takes a lot of strength. Doing the work to get to a better emotional place takes an abundance of strength that someone like Donald Trump will never, ever have. Thank you very much for your service.

It’s not just DJT. It’s the whole GOP. They all talk like this, save for the handful that have actually served, but they are few and far between these days.
Between comments like this and the legislative votes of congressional GOPers, it could not be any more crystal clear that the Republican party 1.) does not care one iota about vets, and 2.) but they make a great electoral prop!

ā€œSupport Our Troops!ā€ they say while voting against any and all bills that would actually help vets.

I’m deeply sorry you had to experience that and I genuinely wish you all the love and peace in the world. I can’t even begin to fathom any of it. Because of the hell suffered by folks like you, I don’t have to. Thank you very much for your service.
