The only way to end this is to start outlawing unnecessary guns starting with weapons similar to what I carried in the Army. If it takes twenty years to get them all off the street then so what? Listen…if we’d started in 1996 then guess what? They’d now be rare to all gone.

He also suggested there are lots of “coaches, who I guarantee you have plenty of experience with weapons” and veterans who go into teaching after serving in the military who would be willing to carry a gun on school grounds. He said it would be best to arm teachers because it would be too expensive for large schools to hire “100 to 150 security guards.”

I fail to see what being a coach has to do with knowing about the use of deadly weapons. Coaches are armed with whistles, mostly. Trump is macho in such a fake, pathetic way that in his vague, muddled idea of it, one form of macho includes all the others. Or something. I said once before his mind is like a magpie’s nest of disparate, useless shiny objects and trash, and I’ll continue to think that until he shows me I’m wrong.

OK, look, here’s a modestly proposed foolproof plan. Every morning when the kids come in, radio-controlled grenades are chained to the back of their heads. Teachers have controllers on their persons at all times. When a shooting starts, you enter the shooter’s name and blammo! You send for the janitor and the rest of the kids get back to their studies.
