Discussion: Trump Spox On Banning Reporters: Some Are Writing 'Constant Hit Pieces'

Discussion for article #247462

Definitely the American thing to do, intimidate the press and ban the ones that won’t kiss your ass.

“constant hit pieces for no reason.” Just as delusional as her boss. And if she thinks the hit pieces are bad now you just wait to see what happens over the next several weeks now the Drumpf is the certain nominee.

The irony of someone of the Drumpf spokesman complaining about “constant hit pieces” to the network whose sole function is nothing but hit pieces about the President.

“Oh, he definitely understands that,” Pierson replied, adding that when
in the spin room, Trump “goes down every single lane and talks to every
single reporter.”

Exactly. Mika gets a statement like “Nice job, keep up the good, classy work, by the way, feel free to drop by my room later,” whereas people who perform actual journalism get “Kiss my ass. I know where you work, and my boys will be paying you a visit.”

Somehow Trump snuffing reporters seems like a consistent theme.

“We have a lot of reporters who essentially have just been glorified bloggers who aren’t really interested in covering the campaign or even the race for that matter, they’re just out there trying to start trouble.”

Do you realize, Ms Pierson, that you are describing precisely Mr Trump’s campaign?

If there’s one consistent assertion from this entire campaign, it’s that there is not and cannot be any legitimate criticism of the Trump machine ever. All criticism is based in error, in bad faith, in allegiance to some perceived enemy. No member of the machine is ever wrong factually, ethically, in policy or in any other way. Ever. It’s pure authoritarianism, carried to cartoonishly exaggerated but still very dangerous lengths, and it’s a hallmark of this man and his campaign.

Something for the current president to laugh at over breakfast.

Exactly, It’s gotten cartoonish.

It’s the Vlad Putin model of press relations, which as we’ve learned is a highly admired role model for Hair Drumpf.

My understanding is that for some strange reasons, the primaries are private events. They can do whatever they please. Megyn is wrong – the Freedom of Press has nothing to with it.

However, I disagree with one thing Pierson said. Bloggers, photographers, videographers, writers, poets, internet posters, rappers and journalists are all part of the media like it or not.

The still on the video is freaking nightmarish. Those are some soul sucking eyes.

Seems to me she’s also describing herself. Remember the bullet necklace, and her threat to wear a fetus version?

Not surprising; self-reflection is not a conservative value. Never has been, never will be.

Some Are Writing ‘Constant Hit Pieces’

FOX: They need to be fair and balanced, just like us:

  • 50% of time is spent doing hit pieces on Democrats.
  • 50% of the time is spent praising Republicans.

This bullying clown must be crushed in November.

Happily, that’s looking like a pretty achievable goal; the real question is going to be whether he can sink the GOP’s Senate hopes along with his own shipwreck.

“You understand that there’s a First Amendment, there’s freedom of the press, and you don’t get to snuff that out when you’re the president of the United States, right? Does he understand that?” Kelly asked.

No, Megs dear, he doesn’t. He’s already talking about somehow overriding NYT v. Sullivan, he’s increasingly making it clear that the kind of police violence we’ve been finally recognizing and decrying for the last two years will become official policy once his reign begins, and, more and more, it’s becoming clear that his supporters are going to expect a free pass on acts of random hate crimes.

There’d almost be something poignant and heroic about Megyn Kelly suddenly waking up one day and realizing she was a reporter and freedom of speech and press is under direct attack by her own crazy, angry, fearful viewers if not for the fact that she and her boss made them that way. Deliberately, systematically and carefully.

Congratulations, Megs. You and your boss built this. You took his coin, year after year, knowing full well what was going on and cynically playing the game for dough. Your crisis of conscience now is about eight years too late and several tens of millions of dollars short.

How true! They don’t even know the meaning of the word!

Obama had more directed at him than anybody and never did this sort of thing, but they would have cried to the heavens if he did.
