Discussion: Trump Sounds Resolute From Iraq: 'Whatever It Takes. We Need A Wall'

I remember Louisiana Congressman ā€˜Bob Livingstonā€™ giving a ā€˜weā€™ll never give in!ā€™ Speech on the House floor during the 95-95 shutdown only to have the GOP fold a bit later.

Heā€™ll be folding once Sean Hannity tells him heā€™s put up enough of a ā€œfightā€. Has the moron POS even mentioned the little boy who died at the border?

Whatever it takes, you need to go.

No, you need the wall, Donnie. We need a competent president.

Itā€™s going to be embarrassing when Turtle finally decides it isnā€™t worth it to keep trying to appease Individual 1 and the CR gets passed with a veto-proof majority.

Anything about standing tall, shoulder to shoulder with our Allies?

When he does, the boy will transform into a Middle Eastern terrorist sneaking into the country with the bubonic plague.

Dear Mr. President,
I understand Iraq has lots of sand. Go pound some.

His statement that terrorists are coming in through the Southern border is a flat-out lie. Thereā€™s absolutely no evidence of this, and itā€™s probably the most difficult way to come into the country for terrorists and would-be terrorists.

ā€œWe have terrorists coming in through the southern border,ā€ he added, baselessly."

We can kind of see where this is going. The GOP will try to make this the Demsā€™ problem by holding them responsible for not ā€˜compromisingā€™ now that theyā€™ll have power. Trump will dig in, rally the base because heā€™s living up to his promise to break his promise to make Mexico pay for the wall by shutting down the govā€™t to make American taxpayers foot the bill. Yes, we are in a battle against absurdity but perhaps that is fitting. The GOP made absurdity politics the norm and they were rewarded with more seats in 2014 and the presidency in 2016. However, look under the hood and there was a whole of of steeping on the scale from gerrymandering to voter suppression to SCOTUS malevolence and neglect to foreign money and foreign interference that gave them that power. Theyā€™re not popular. Dems should pass a CR out of the house (which Pelosi will do) and out the burden on McConnell to decide if he wants to play along with Trump to try to raise Dem negatives and rile up the base or just pass a CR by supermajority. Dems should wave this fight to puncture the GOPā€™s belief in the political efficacy of the theatre of the absurd.

The steel slats look vulnerable to some gas engined carbide bladed cutoff saw. If the tool to cut those steel slats doesnā€™t yet exist, Mexican mechanical geniuses will make them soon.

Iā€™d like to congratulate the PR genius who decided the president should double down on a failing Republican policy from the site of the ultimate double-down Republican policy. Which also failed. Brava!
