Discussion: Trump Sounds Resolute From Iraq: 'Whatever It Takes. We Need A Wall'

Well now we know what Ivanka got daddy for x-mas.

The only thing Trump “needs” and demands is blind obedience.

No matter that his reasons are lies and the wall simply a useless monument to his heinous, racist propaganda.

At any point the GOP can end this charade that is costing the Tax Payers over a billion dollars a day (going by the last shutdown).

And we will elect that competent president in 2020, assuming one (a Democrat) is not sworn in before then.

No big deal, nothing weird, just playing domestic politics in Iraq.

Trump couldn’t compartmentalize if you spotted him a high school locker and a nerd who made fun of his hair.

I’m glad that articles are starting to call out when Trump lies, but the media need to do it more strongly. Here, we get one word (baselessly); what I suggest is a sentence that says “The president is not telling the truth, as there is no evidence that terrorists are coming through the southern border.” Just reinforce how he is lying, and add in evidence to show his lies, and eventually people will get it.

TPM is starting to do that, but we need all media to follow through and call out the lies of all politicians, it’s necessary for the health of the nation.

I know that I sound like one of those fact-loving Dems, but if Trump wants his wall so badly why doesn’t he consider running one of those cost-benefit analyses evaluating his wall vs other time-tested methods for securing the Southern border

Garbage in, garbage out.

It’s not about facts, a wall, national security or even immigration policy. It’s about venting racist hatred against demographic change that is already happening in the country. It’s a symbol of defiant white nationalism as the POC share of the population and the vote increases.

Build a wall in Iraq. Have the Iraqis pay for it.

We lasted 250 years as a country without a wall. It’s as dumb an idea now as ever.

I misread that as a “dumbass idea” – which also works.

And they’ll use parts salvaged from discarded washing machines to make them.

The wall is the new confederate flag. That’s why they insist on it even though realistically it’s worthless. Pretty soon spikey fences will be on pickups all across the Deep South.

“We have terrorists coming in through the southern border,” he added, baselessly.

I just knew he was going to fuck it up!! That moron.

Look at the expression on that one soldier’s face. Those poor guys - to have to be subjected to his dog-and-pony show.

Horrible, ignorant, embarrassment of a “man.”

Yeah, that works too. I just don’t believe his base cares about the wall. It really has never been a great motivator for GOP turnout. Trump needed the caravan to boost GOP turnout in a few states win a few Senate seats.

“
he even expressed confidence that he’d make a trip to the southern border for a wall ‘groundbreaking’ before his next State of the Union address

“Are you still a believer in ‘The Wall’? Because at age 72, it’s marginal, right?”

Yes! A symbol of white nationalists/racism in America, as it were.

No Wall for you, cretins.

I didn’t think too much of that whole Christmas convo where he seemed tone deaf to the 7 year old kid, but that line can be applied in many contexts to effectively attack this notion that Trump believes in anything or is committed to anything other than his own survival and padding his bank accounts.
