This is good. First, Trump has been consistently failing to repeal “ObamaCare”. He’s in the process of failing on “tax reform.” So now he’s planning to drop the tax deal and rush off to his latest debacle. So much winning!!
But seriously. Probably the best reform of the “welfare system” would be on the corporate side. Why do we even want, let alone need, all the breaks that the oil&gas industry gets? Isn’t it time to start reviewing each and every special deduction and tax break that the various industries get? Also, why is “carried interest” some kind of a sacred income? Why are cap gains taxed at a lower rate than labor? How come there isn’t a transaction tax on each and every stock/securities trade? Now THAT could be actual “tax reform.”
Exactly right. This issue (seemingly coming out of left field) is chosen a) to rile up his base and b) to encourage even more division within the country. With Trump in office, Putin need do nothing now but sit and watch while we go down the tubes.
