Discussion for article #238068

Sound fiscal management and proper order between the races are appealing to the typical Iowa Republican Primary voter.

Being fired for overt racism is not bad news for the GOP. Why do you think Rand Paul made time for Cliven Bundy yesterday? It’s the party of pure racism now.

Trump smears latinos, gets big jump in popularity. What don’t we understand about that?

And the other GOPig candidates {{{shudder!}}}…It appears all but certain they won’t be able to keep ā€œThe Mouth that Boredā€ off the dais in the primary debates, and that fact scares the hell out of his ā€˜opponents’! Please put him between lil’ Rand Paul and big ol’ Chris Christie.
He is the ultimate loose cannon…loose nuke in fact.

Mmmm…pass that popcorn! Extra schadenfreude please!

anyone need any further proof that Iowa is irrelevant to the Presidential nominating process?

Not that the election of Joni Ernst and the long tenure of Steve King didn’t already show it, but these numbers confirm beyond all doubt that Iowa Republicans are completely bug-fuck crazy*.

*Edit: I’ll have to include the GOPers in my own state—Trump is tied for second in Michigan. Woo!

And yet Trump’s unfavorable rating is 49%, to 42 favorable, second to Christie (59 fav/ 25 unfav)

Oh…be still, my heart!
Do I catch the whiff of a self-financed, 3rd Party run in the air?

We’ve seen this movie. We all remember Presidents Giuliani, Thompson, Gingrich, Cain, Santorum and even President Trump. It’s performance art.

It’s funny because Trump built his own trap, he couldn’t quit now if he wanted to. Jon Stewart was right when he said Trump represents the country’s id.

Shocked? Why shocked?

Trump has demanded that Obama come and put the championship belt at his feet. Now.

Or he’ll sue.

You can never underestimate the intelligence of Republican voters. After all, they thought Sarah Palin would be a terrific Vice President.

Still, I pause to wonder if Trump’s surge in the polls isn’t just Democratic voters screwing with the numbers. I think it’s a great idea, and will do my part to continue the trend, but I am skeptical of Trump’s numbers.

Some have even suggested that Trump is a Democratic plant, but it’s more realistic to believe he’s a house plant.

This great news for conservatives and for the Trump campaign. Congratulations!!

I would much rather have a transparent, articulate conservative like Trump who is ready to openly, bluntly and clearly speak about his ideas and thoughts than a sleazy and corrupt but amiable and well-packaged conservative like John Bush, Marco Rubio or Scott Walker. Snakes in the grass like John Bush, Marco Rubio and Scott Walker are more dangerous.

John Bush, Marco Rubio and Scott Walker have been bought and paid for – they are hired puppets for their billionaire handlers.

Exactly, what started out as pathetic ploy for publicity is now becoming a real presidential campaign. He’s so destroyed his brand that his only hope to remain even remotely relevant is to try to become some kind of folk hero of the Republican base. The only way he can do that is by continuing to destroy his brand by being an even bigger asshole.

It’s funny, Republicans only started taking him seriously when he started saying increasingly hateful and racist shit about the president. Trump is yet another in a long list of examples of atrocious people the GOP foolishly embraced, only to wind up having to later apologize for their behavior. Now he’s running for president, and he’s going to be right up there on stage standing next to people the GOP hopes America will take seriously enough to elect. Problem is while their elevating this irrefutable jackass, his presence will lower the stature of the few candidates who might actually have a shot at winning.

Don’t forget President Bachmann.

Totally agree. Walker has me especially worried, because he is not just a religious nut, he seems to be a sociopath. Nothing behind those eyes. Like how Dr. Loomis described Michael Myers in the original Halloween movie.
