I’m not sure the Mexican President knows this…maybe you should Tweet it to him.

“He called me what he said was the bigliest compliment a person can be called, ‘Pandejo!!’ We are closer now.”

This in itself might be grounds to invoke the 25th Amendment…

This is a step into the deepest of deep ends…

“The border is soft and weak, drugs are pouring in, and I’m not going to let that happen,” he said.

Rump understands that he just threw down on this, right? I’m guessing that by 12/31/17, NAFTA will be history and America will be in recession. Well done, GOP.

It’s a tad bit worrisome that the orange man-child toys with bringing us to the brink of a trade war and then ‘thinks’ he can dial it back with a ‘we have a very good relationship’ comment.

Such a good relationship that the guy canceled his date with you. Sure.

The only alternative in Trumpworld would have been for him to call Nieto a greatly overrated leader and a total loser, etc.

Whistling past the graveyard. Peoples with good relations don’t build 2,000 mile walls between them.

I hope someone in Mexico read the suggestion that if Trump imposes a tariff on imports on Mexico and ditches trade agreements, then Mexico doesn’t have to enforce U.S. patents and copyrights on its soil any more:

Now who’s the boss here?

I would not call trump’s recent behavior toward President Pena Nieto as indicating a good relationship. One does not insult an entire people, culture. and the Head of State personally and then expect a good relationship.
The Mexican friends I spoke with yesterday were seriously angered by trump’s words and attitude. trump demanded President Nieto respect him. No, respect is a 2 way street. trump should show respect, politeness and good will to expect any in return. It’s basic. It’s simple. And he does not get it. You don’t brag about a 40 foot high wall 2000 miles long and demand Mexico pay for it and then expect good relations.

sigh, I fear Trumps plan, if it is one, is starting work. After only a week I am so weary of the constant never ending stream of absurdities flowing from Trump and his administration.

Actually that’s an alt-right double win, because it’ll hurt California’s economy more than anything.

This piñata is way too flattering, better hair and a younger, slimmer looking version of the Drumpf.

If by “very good relationship” you mean that Peña Nieto would probably like to (figuratively of course) gut Trump like a fish, than sure, all is good.

He’s just doing his childish negotiating tactic where he drastically overreaches to start, then gets credit for being “reasonable” when he accepts a much smaller package later.

I would call what you describe, on a personal level, manners. in international relations, its called diplomacy.

this administration, and tRUmp in particular, have neither.

isolationist or not, tRUmp is leading us down a path with few friends, and almost none of our old ones

how long before coalitions are made that don’t include us or our interests?

i know if it were me on the other side, in the old friend category, i would have started talking to non-us partners about a course change around nov. 13, 2016, writing was on the wall then.

maybe knock the bully down a notch or two, even the playing field a little.
