Then why should I believe anything he says about the dead journalists?

To be fair, Trump has vigorously defended journalists at Pravda, Izvestia, and TASS.

And let’s not forget the murderer started out stalking & harassing a woman. Cheeto Voldemort sure hasn’t done anything to discourage radicalized misogyny.

Good observation! And somehow his quest to ‘end violent crime’ will continue to justify his border actions & travel bans. No matter that this was yet another American white guy.

“Journalists, like all Americans, should be free from the fear of being violently attacked while doing their job.”

The best way to accomplish this being to incarcerate them on military bases…

Nothing like having the Secret service having to protect a journalist after being taunted by Trump.

The candidate had previously blasted her as “dishonest” for her coverage of protests at an earlier rally and demanded an apology, which Tur refused to give.

“What a lie. Katy Tur. What a lie it was,” Trump said, pointing at Tur from the stage. “Third. Rate. Reporter. Remember that.”

“In an essay for Marie Claire, Tur wrote that the crowd turned on her “like a large animal, angry and unchained.” Afterwards, the Secret Service took what she described as the “extraordinary” precaution of walking Tur to her car.

It was unlikely, Tur said, that any future attack by the candidate could be “as scary.”

Hope a journo stands their ground one of these days, I mean they love those 2nd Amendment rights don’t they? Then watch these right wingers squeal.

“…by anyone who could legally be construed to be acting on my behalf.”

May I suggest that the Don desist from constantly using infammatory language in referencing journalists…? This woul d likely help people stop thinking its ok to assault them…

Asshole, this after attacking the press for 2 years…

Plus, Trump reads everything with the wrong inflection and interjects “Thank you” at inappropriate places. Any neutral observer would call him an unbalanced individual.

So who put this up on the teleprompter?

I think if Bill Clinton or another seasoned politician said this you’d profit by parsing it out this way. But although Trump is cunning and manipulative, he’s also extremely sloppy and rudimentary in his communication style, and everything is pretty much off the cuff. I think he’s simply saying, through gritted teeth, that this shouldn’t have happened, and then he’s described a jumble of impressions from TV. Of course they were attacked “violently” but he says it anyway because he’s a sloppy thinker who’s losing ground to dementia rapidly. I’m sure he weirdly emphasized the word “attacked.” Of course they were doing their jobs; workplace massacres happen in workplaces. But he says it anyway. I know I’m a broken record about this but I think if you’re seeing something clever in his brayings it’s because you’re supplying the cleverness yourself. It’s not in him.

Journalists, like all Americans, should be free from the fear of being verbally and abusively attacked by the president of the United States while doing their job.
