You’re probably correct, It’s just that I don’t accept that there’s anything substantive behind the words. Quite probably some aide told him he had to say something. So, “well this is something, therefore I must say it.”
OK, which network will be the first to put together the montage of
- trump repeatedly threatening journalists, called out by name and insulted, encouraging his rabid mobs to scream, cuss and throw objects at journalists, to the point where they need security to protect them on the way out
next to
- trump with his bad acting chops blandly repeating phrases someone else wrote for him about how journalists shouldn’t be fearful?

To be fair, Trump has vigorously defended journalists at Pravda, Izvestia, and TASS
[/quote]Other than those few who had it coming.
“Sure I called the news media ‘the enemy of the people’ and I disparage the press on a daily basis … but I meant it in the sweetest, kindest possible way.”
Of course, when Trump refers to the press “doing their job”, what he really means is:
Only ask the questions that my administration wants to be asked, propagate my propagandistic rhetoric, praise my genius on a daily basis, and hail me as America’s savior.
I didn’t mean to imply that he meant a word of it, if that’s the impression you got. He doesn’t give a damn about those lives or anyone else’s. I’m just arguing that he doesn’t have the mental skills to craft a sentence that has hidden meanings in it. Look at literally any verbatim transcript where he’s speaking extemporaneously and tell me his brain isn’t cottage cheese at this point. He can talk for an hour and not produce one coherent sentence, much less something with layers of meaning.
Insincere liar. It’s profane.
You forgot Fox! Or are you just going with print journalism?
My guess is that the ultimatum for him saying this was either do it or no McDonald’s for a week.
Give him a break. It’s hard to interact with human beings when the voice in his head is so loud.
Oh gee, thanks for that. We’re so grateful, your gratefulness.
He burps, therefore he is.
Why did he say anything? He went over the top, usually meaning he is reacting to something.
also…
"My government will not rest until we have done everything in our power to reduce violent crime and to protect innocent life. We will not ever leave your side.”
Hmm… can we get a few words from anyone currently residing in Puerto Rico regarding his staying power?
This a##hole who has actually threatened journalists and told his supporters to attack and physically harm… This a##hole is actually saying this?
This a##hole likely is responsible for some of this.
This a##hole…
The most terrifying words in the English language.
-Ronald Reagan
Came here to post essentially that same point. His solution isn’t a free press, but a compliant one that he doesn’t need to sic his followers on.
“Look what you made me do.”
When you’re suffering, we pledge our eternal support.
This is great news. Trumpp finally has a backup plan for when thoughts and prayers don’t work and the good guy fails to show up with the gun.
Eternal support. Obama couldn’t give you that, baby. And it’s a pledge. Solid.
For good or for bad, Reagan actually believed in something beyond himself.
So good it needed repeating. Especially the FU part.
Well, Trump and his DOJ are clearly following through regarding immigrants - they’re drafting a new policy to virtually eliminate the possibility of asylum. (OT, but it’s an example of why I vacillate between considering Trump’s pronouncements as mostly random words and being actually terrified of what they mean)
That just happened. The general rewarded his troops because the nuclear program was securely in place. Kim, I guess, didn’t want any possibility of loyalty being felt toward anyone but himself.
