Could be worse. If someone attacked a mosque, I doubt that he’d even suggest armed guards. Sadly, some nut job is bound to put that prediction to the test.

Our Civil Cold War is rapidly becoming a Civil Hot War. In terms of our history, this reminds me of what southerners were doing in the 1850s. We only talk about John Brown, but there were numerous terrorist attacks on people who opposed slavery, by southerners, in the 1850s.

There have been armed guards at my brother’s synagogue during the High Holy Days for years. People who aren’t Jews were surprised to hear that when I told them.
