pretty much what i anticipated… quitter… (although i still think the impetus of this was a p.r. stunt that just got out of control)
it will be interesting to watch the manipulation with the polling… as marco miraculously is now the gop golden boy… but at least fatso is no longer a serious contender…
Not me: Trump is egotistical but not oblivious - much of how he presents and what he says is no more authentic then how Liberace appeared and spoke.
When Obama gutted Trump with that comedy routine at the WH press dinner, Trump watched on intently and took it and sought to learn.
Two nights back Colbert had a segment on Umpqua that focused on PRETEND and ended with throwing ice water on the Trump folly. At first I thought it possible that for the first time Colbert may have failed on a smart hedge. Then I realized that of course Colbert is entirely correct: he and Trump are both in the entertainment business, they are show people first and over all, and who but someone in the position of Colbert is better positioned to understand precisely what Trump is up to and how the Trump candidacy will play out and end.
But attaching his fate the polls, Trump a greasing the slide out of the GOP snakes and ladders game.
This simply proves that the man is not serious about being President, never was and he will find any convenient reason to drop out by next Spring. Can you imagine any person who really wanted to be President ever saying such a thing? Not a chance. The Trump “campaign” has all been an elaborate reality show and hoax.
Sounds like he’s paving the road for an exit. You just knew that he would get bored with it all and dealing with a lot of “little people” candidates that he couldn’t just fire. All these pesky details he has to keep on top of or the press questions him. Who needs it?
Right now there is a burgeoning civil war in the GOP between the establishment and ‘the outsiders’. While the number of folks in the presidential nod is still too large, Bush, Jindal,Cruz and Christie aren’t doing themselves any favors, by trying to be like ‘the outsiders’.
Trump will still be in this race until at least the southern campaigns (barring losses).
It’s not really clear if Trump even understands how to make money. I’m of the opinion that he started off with a lot of money and mostly managed to increase it through a combination of luck, inheritance, media whoring, and the standard ways wealth increases through its financial gravitational pull.
I don’t think it was possible to do something like he’s doing before the days of the internet and 24 hour newscycles. Even a robber baron back in the day couldn’t have garnered the publicity that is thrown Trump’s way.
I think Trump’s doing this for a few reasons, all of them kind of crazy and selfish. One, he was scoffed at for talking about running for President, so there’s an element of “Nyah, Nyah, yes I could to do it, so there!” and this in part was directed at Obama. I think Trump really does hate a number of politicians, Jeb! being high up on the list, so this let’s Trump be the guy that brings him down, so he can pat himself on the back for that if nothing else. I also think that Trump has been so spoiled, so wealthy, so catered to his entire life that he believes the sycophants that he surrounds himself with. He believes that personality and will are all that is necessary to lead.
Sounds like the Donald is getting bored with the race and signaling his exit.
It’s a hard grind and if he is really self-funding, keeping his circus on the road 6 or 7 days a week has to be costing a fortune. He has to be bleeding cash, something real estate developers are often short on.
Yes. I think he’s actually quite a fragile personality. My hope is that he will ride high for a long time yet, then crash, causing maximum damage to the GOP.
Not only am I waiting for Limbaugh to honor his promise, but I also remember Ted Nugent’s promise to be dead or in jail if the President was re-elected. They’ve had almost three years to make good on these threats. Come on, guys . . . what’s taking you so long?!?
I get the sense he’s doing it to clean house at the GOP, especially after some of the things he’s said about hedge fund managers having to pay more taxes.
I know it’s hard to imagine this ego maniac doing that, but consider:
he is tired of the GOP hitting him up for money they waste on idiotic issues
he doesn’t like thos emaking more than he does getting away with paying lesser taxes than he does.
imagine how much money he’s going to make on the book deal for this run, and positioning himself as a hero who cleared out the detrius from the GOP falls in line with his ego.
msnbc is trump central… he makes daily appearances/calls during morningbro and then whenever he has a campaign speech, they cut live… even those librul hosts like chris hayes are accommodating about turning over a chunk of their airtime to him.
