And there’s his out. Everyone drops in the polls. Polls go up and down depending on temperament, timing and how the questions are asked. Note, the GOP polls will probably rely on the latter method to try to lose Trump.

He started out high in the polls (always a shaky measurement of success), but that only says he’s got nowhere to go put down. There are days though I get the sense he’s doing all of this to ensure Jeb!'s failure and won’t leave until then.

Not a surprise. It’s all about his yoooooge popularity. Policies? He’s got yoooooge policies, just don’t ask about them. He has no intention of winning this thing. It’s just a long (unfunny) stand-up comedy set for him. Have we ever seen anything like this before?

This is the tell—it says everything about what really motivates him in running. It’s not the desire to make things better, it’s not because he has a single fucking clue about real policy-making, or anything boring like that.
No, the reason he’s running is because of the attention it gets him. He gets his ass kissed by “important” people, and once that stops, he’s outta here.

Then what would he do if elected, and his poll numbers went into negative territory (a likely scenario, were he elected, which is admittedly unlikely)? When the love stopped, when people figured out he was over his head/hair. when his gaffes were no longer funny? Pull a Sarah Palin and walk away? Moose meat and reality TV after his first failed budget. Yup. That’s what Cruz dreams of, taking the reins away from The Donald and being the Veep who brings on Armageddon. Yeehaw.

My sense is trump is doing all this to burnish his name branding income. That’s how he makes money. Name branding. Money is what matters to him, nothing else does. He’s an ego maniacal used car salesman with zero understanding of governing, the world or much else beyond making money…

I take it he means when he is behind in the polls, not actually declining. And his drop, while staying on top, is the flash in the pan that is Fiorinia…he knows she won’t last. Carson’s numbers are a bit more stubborn, but I think he will either flame out or shock the world in February by not posting in the top 3, despite being #2 in the polls in Iowa. Even if Carson does do well in Iowa, he will have shot his load.
The concern for republicans with this statement is, Trump could win the nomination, and then when more reality based polling comes out showing that he is losing the Electoral College badly to Hillary, he wants out. But it will be too late for the party then. Hell, there is a very good chance it will be too late by the beginning of April.

Trump was on Meet the Press and This Week. So the media is in full GOPer-support mode again. Trump did not just appear at their door today. Remember, he was invited to appear by the show’s producers.
