Discussion: Trump: 'I Didn't Say I Would Pay' Legal Fees Of Man Who Punched Protester

Pathological liar
A really positive trait in a con man.
(The comment bot wants me to elaborate when all I want to do is reiterate.)

He isn’t a very good liar, is he? The most scary thing of all is that he can contradict something he said two days ago, and may actually believe himself both times.

Actually (h/t Harry Frankfurt “On Bullshit”) he is not so much a liar as a bullshitter. The liar at least knows what the truth is; the bullshitter doesn’t care one way or the other: his only concern is “closing the deal”.

He seems to have a real hard time recalling what he says and stuff he says over and over

I don’t think he has a hard time remembering. I think this is just another classic tactic of persons with narcissistic personality disorder called gaslighting.

Gaslighting or gas-lighting is a form of mental abuse in which information is twisted or spun, selectively omitted to favor the abuser, or false information is presented with the intent of making victims doubt their own memory, perception, and sanity.

But people like Trump because he means what he says, right?

b/c as a reality television hero you can change your mind b/c it’s your show.

And that is how “a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes”. That is how I’ve come to define the American media these days. Unable to correct the truth before the lie has chosen to take root…and the lie grows like a weed on the body politic. Pretty soon its an invasive species able to grow everywhere.

This is the clever “Pivot to the Center for the General Election.” That crafty dog.

And this is why he randomly calls in to places … you dont get to be prepared and you dont see him nervously scrambling for answers.

I caught the tail end of Lawrence O’Donnell’s show last night. He had on a writer from Politico who had analyzed Trump speeches and concluded that Trump tells a lie on average once every five minutes. His list of provable lies grows, literally, by the minute.

The old cliche “If his mouth is moving he’s lying” was always sort of an over the top exaggeration used to describe a truth challenged person. With Trump it’s a spot on descriptive.

No, he’s just a con man lying when he needs to, but I would wager it’s most of his supporters that do and that’s why it works.

Great movie. I remember a psychology professor using that film to explain how sometimes there’s truth behind those feelings of paranoia.

In other words, just because your paranoid, doesn’t mean they’re not coming after you.

So true. I won’t talk to people unless I first turn on loud music and run the bath shower. It annoys my girlfriend when we’re sharing a meal, but what do I care how a Soviet mole feels about the matter?

I wonder about his repeated references to Obama’s “reign”. I wonder if it is deliberate or if that is just the way he thinks about it.

I rather enjoy getting mental images of a crowned Obama escorted by Princess Malia and Princess Sasha.

Even saying “I’m looking into it” about paying the puncher’s legal fees is condoning violence. The news media has to be much lighter on their feet to hold this slippery fool’s feet to the fire.

In his case, maybe it should be called “gasbagging”?

The problem is that “his people” don’t care about lying. They are not the most respectable, honorable people in the land. In fact, they seem to love lying. Just goes to show that evangelicals really don’t understand Jesus. I am Jewish, and even I understand Jesus. And Jesus would not be happy.

Was this felony assault? If so, Trump might lose one voter. Not to mention all the others who hear him make that promise, then rescind on it. Otherwise they think they’d get a free pass to beat the hell out of anyone who disagrees with them, because ol’ Drumpf would cover the bills.

This is what they did with Bush and Cheney. And look where that got us. You’d think they’d learned their lesson.

The press has the obligation to bring out the truth. Ordinary people don’t have the ability to confront politicians. But for too long the press has not done it’s job.
