Discussion: Trump Goes After GOP Gov. Susana Martinez At New Mexico Rally

“She’s got to do a better job. Okay? Your governor has got to do a better job. She’s not doing the job."

The best words.

Hey GOP – how’s that “outreach” plan workin’ for ya??

She’s a woman, she’s Hispanic…so as Josh says, she gets “bitch-slapped”.

I don’t know how this helps him with anyone. The only way to explain this is with Josh’s dominance theory.

“We have got to get your governor to get going,” Trump told the crowd, according to the Washington Post. “She’s got to do a better job. Okay? Your governor has got to do a better job. She’s not doing the job. Hey! Maybe I’ll run for governor of New Mexico. I’ll get this place going. She’s not doing the job. We’ve got to get her moving. Come on: Let’s go, governor.”

Did his supporters cheer this?

Don’t worry Susana, once you cravenly cave and make nice, especially if you sing his praises, he’ll be kind of nice to you.

Sometimes it’s hard to believe this is a college-educated man. Wow.
He sure is lucky he was born into wealth.

And how sad is it that he goes after her since she did not endorse him. We know he’d have been singing her praises if she had, and we’d have heard nothing about the refugee relocation program. He had probably not even heard of it himself until recently. What a small-minded, small-handed man.
Scary he has a shot at being president.

“Apparently, Donald Trump doesn’t realize Governor Martinez wasn’t elected in 2000, that she has fought for welfare reform, and has strongly opposed the President’s Syrian refugee plan. But the pot shots weren’t about policy, they were about politics,” Martinez spokesman Mike Lonergan said in a statement, according to the Washington Post. “And the Governor will not be bullied into supporting a candidate until she is convinced that candidate will fight for New Mexicans. Governor Martinez doesn’t care about what Donald Trump says about her – she cares about what he says he will do to help New Mexicans. She didn’t hear anything about that today.”

Lame response by the governor. Weak.
I’m sure she will fall in line and end up endorsing him, like the rest of the GOPers.

Where did he get the idea that a presidential campaign is supposed to be “Everybody Loves Donald”??

I wouldn’t be the least surprised if Donnie doesn’t wake up one day before Election Day and smell the coffee and just walk away from the election (“you all are such losers, I am not going to waste my time any more”) rather get trounced by Hillary.

I am thinking about starting a pool. Anybody in?

And the rest …Hey! Maybe I’ll run for governor of New Mexico. I’ll get this place going. She’s not doing the job. We’ve got to get her moving. Come on: Let’s go, governor."

What an orator.

And to think, before she had her little run in with the police, she was on the short list of many people as a potential VP nominee, mostly based on her speech at the 2012 Republican convention.

Oh my. And here I was worrying that Mr. Trump would make a shrewd political calculation and name Gov Martinez as his running mate.
I guess he decided she’s not hot enough (or not white enough).

Seems pretty clear he would not be satisfied with the paltry powers afforded a president. He wants to be able to “fire” anyone he likes, including governors. Therefore, he would have to seize dictatorial powers and become Duce-for-Life (that’s in addition to his current title…Douche-for-Life).

Oh, I think it’s proven that appealing to people’s more disturbing pathologies is often a winning formula for success. Racism sells. As does spouting homophobic, xenophobic and anti-science beliefs. But more than any of the above misogyny has a special appeal all its own. Millions of men dislike women. Millions of women dislike women. Disliking women and blaming them for your troubles probably started about the time pre-homo sapiens lifted their arms off the ground and began walking fully upright.
