There are some rules you just can’t ignore, dipstick, even if you are Gooper.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience.
And we’re sorry if anyone was offended.
All representatives are currently busy denying voting rights to those people.
Your call is important to us, and will be answered and ignored in the order it was received…”
(muffled laughter barely audible in background)

Geez, you’d almost think Kobach doesn’t know WTF he’s doing.

Or, alternatively, he knows exactly what he’s doing.

Shocking.

“…[A]n error by staffers.”

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight…and my car speeding is an error by my right foot.

How shocking!!

Fascist behaving like fascists should surprise no one with two brain cells to rub together—a group , by the way, that does not include Kris Kobach.

He has a certain kind of cunning, and he’s very good at underhanded manipulation—but he’s not really very smart, despite his education and position.

Judge Kollar-Kotelly needs to issue a contempt citation so that our magnanimous president can pardon these fine public servants.

The way they’ve been treated after all they’ve done for this country is terrible. Just terrible. Not even a jury trial!

“It was truly an honest misunderstanding on the part of the commission with respect to its obligations to share information,”attorney Elizabeth Shapiro said. “It was not an attempt to hide anything."

"Although what goddamned business the people have knowing what we're up to is a major fricking mystery to all of us. Can they even read?!"

Sorry, can’t blame it on an error by staffers. Leadership is ultimately responsible to see that the necessary things get done. Shifting responsibility and saying “I’m sorry” won’t cut it on your corrupt road to voter suppression, Mr. Kobach.

And if none of that works,
“We were only joking; it was a joke.”

“Go talk to the President, he said to tell you if you get too snippy about all this he’ll just pardon all of us.”

We all know how much federal judges adore a comedian in the courtroom.

“…commissioners showed up the meeting with binders full of reports from the Heritage Foundation that the public had not seen yet”.

Of course. Nothing to see here. For people like this, Guillotines were invented.

So, what you’re saying is that you’re a legitimate government panel, but you didn’t perform the proper procedure perfectly?

I don’t know- I can’t just take your friend’s word that you’re a valud commission. After all, letting illegal commissions run rampant is a sleight against our democracy.

We need laws to protect the people ftom disingenuous and illegitimate government commissions that seek to overthrow the American way of life.

Or, with less sarcasm: your commission, with all of its resources, and an entire staff failed to perform an incredibly basic function - probably on purpose, but that’s just frosting for my point. That point being, how can you expect more from an impoverished voter - in terms of time, legal understanding, and resources, etc. - when you - with your dedicated time, funding and staff, etc. - can’t meet the same, if not proportionally weaker, standards?

I wonder if every time the Commission meets Kobach is at the door checking the birth certificate of every member, and all staff, especially those who’s complexion is darker than his?

No worries. Trump has his handy Pardon pen ready. In fact, at this rate, I think his Pardon pen will get a lot more work than his bill-signing pen.

Next excuse: they thought transparency requirements only applied to the initial meeting.
