Discussion: Trump Downplays Market Fears After Brexit Vote: It 'Shouldn't Even Affect' US

I agree. I got the trilogy because I was on a Wales reading kick that started with How Green was My Valley.

Well, sure. But thatā€™s because we donā€™t have Trump negotiating with reality. If Trump says ā€œit shouldnā€™t even affect usā€, it wonā€™t. Believe me.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee later told reporters that the stock marketā€™s fall on Friday was due to Wall Streetā€™s worries about President Barack Obamaā€™s economic policies and the U.S. debt.

Letā€™s see ā€“ Obama has been in office for seven and a half years and the Brexit vote happened on Thursday. By Friday, the pound had lost 10% of its value and the Dow Jones dropped 600 points. And this massive global loss of wealth was caused by Wall Streetā€™s reaction to Obamaā€™s 7Ā½-year-old economic policies and had nothing to do with the Brexit vote the day before?

This is something like saying that the fall of the Roman Empire was caused by the Egyptian Pharaohs building the pyramids and taking all that grain out of circulation.

Wharton should send Trump a cease and desist letter to stop him mentioning where he learned his business acumen. It canā€™t be doing their enrollment any good.

ā€œDozens of Twitter users branded Trump a ā€œmoron,ā€ ā€œweapons-grade plumā€
and ā€œidiotā€ ā€” including British pop star Lily Allen, TV presenter Sue

Guessinā€™ he didnā€™t bother to look at StockDrop frenzyā€¦ in the US.

The pot-belly calling the black kettle.

kettle: British term meaning confined to a small area

The article is good enough, but the editorā€™s note is definitely worth the trip:

Editorā€™s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ā€” 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ā€” from entering the U.S.

There is no reason to worry about your shrinking retirement account. The weak British pound will result in higher occupancy rates at Donald Trumpā€™s Scottish resorts, so all is good.

This is why we need to Ben Carson in the Trump administration.

ā€œShouldnā€™tā€, huh? Now that is pretty securingā€¦ And what if it does, Donald? So far, youā€™ve praised the UK for it AND blamed Obama for it? Sounds like youā€™ve got all the bases coveredā€¦

What a coward you are!

@azjude Does that mean youā€™re having bad thoughts about Mr. Drumpf? 'Coz you might get banned from the USā€¦or something.

N. Ireland is hoping England gets its head out of its ass and reverses course on this. If they donā€™t, N. Irelandā€™s got a very real border issue to worry about. Ireland, N. Ireland, and Scotland should just put their heads together and declared themselves the ā€˜United Celtdomā€™ and let Scotland and N.I. petition Brussels to remain in the EU.

What a complete and total moron. I lost about 8 times that between Thursday and Friday.

Time for Donald to visit that beautiful city of Belgiumā€¦

I repeatā€¦what a complete and total moron. How any thinking Republican (an oxymoron if there ever was oneā€¦and I stress the word moron) could believe that their likely candidate is going to suddenly pivot and become John Maynard Keynes, Benjamin Desreli, and the Dali Lama combined have their heads so far up they can perform their own root canals.

Heā€™s your candidate Republicansā€¦and he doesnā€™t even know what the term Brexit means, he has no foreign policy advisors (and said that if he did there wouldnā€™t be anything to talk about) and he has a position a day on issues and every one of them is different. You chose him. You own him. Good luckā€¦-13 and descendingā€¦

Please God let him get past the conventionā€¦please!!!

@azjude
He surpasses merely being disqualified. Thereā€™s something treasonous about his approach to this countryā€™s president and his support for Vlad.

ā€œI think he [Vlad] will be probably [benefit politically], because I know how heā€™s been scorned to a certain extent,ā€ Mr. Trump said, adding later: ā€œHe said some very nice things about me. I think he probably is somewhat of a beneficiary.ā€

ā€œHeā€™s constantly dictating to the world what they should do. The world doesnā€™t listen to him obviously,ā€ Mr. Trump said of Mr. Obama, who was against Britain leaving the European Union. ā€œHeā€™s embarrassed.ā€

ā€œIā€™ve been in touch with them [policy advisers] but thereā€™s nothing to talk about,ā€ Mr. Trump said. Besides, he added, he would rather have advisers who are divorced from recent global events.

ā€œI think I want to use ones that havenā€™t been involved, take a look at whatā€™s happened in the world,ā€ Mr. Trump said.

I think he has to understand how interconnected things are. He might not be a great businessman, but heā€™s done business in other countries. Heā€™s deliberately choosing to be stupid because above all he has to pretend that somehow Pres. Obama caused a one-day plunge the morning after this referendum that caused all the other markets to plunge.

Trump was for Brexit, in his doofus way, so he canā€™t blame THAT. And if he thinks he has an idea how to protect US markets and businesses from disasters, well, it would be nice for him to explain how.

And of course, the stock market has more than doubled under Obama. Even with last dayā€™s fallout, the Dow is near its all-time high. But heā€™s not going to give credit to Obama for THAT.
