Discussion: Trump Declares Opioid Crisis A Nationwide Public Health Emergency

Trump described his brother as a “great guy, best looking guy,” with a personality “much better than mine”.

I’ll just leave that there. Really, this shit just writes itself.

Trump had promised to make it a national emergency.

Calling it a public health emergency carries less eight and offers fewer resources.

Typical Trump bait and switch.

Remember when they couldn’t even manage to do an Easter Egg hunt and had to bring in the Obama people to save the event? Even less thought and effort went into this. A staff that didn’t hate him wouldn’t let him roll out anything so lame and pathetic.

Who’s going to declare Trump a nationwide Public Health Emergency?

He bemoaned a crisis he said had spared no segment of American society.

“As Americans we cannot allow this to continue.”.

I could not agree more.

Seriously.

But enough about the Trump presidency…

The real nationwide public health emergency is the one he is creating by personally sabotaging the Affordable Care Act.

shift funding for HIV and AIDs programs to provide more substance abuse treatment for people already eligible for those programs.

Great, more anti LGBT crap. (Yes, I know it’s not just LGBT folks who deal with HIV and AIDS, but that perception still hasn’t died away in evangelical circles.)

$57,000 in that fund!? Seriously?

That’s about enough to buy a tongue depressor for every opioid abuser in the country. Seriously, I checked.

“If we can teach young people, and people generally, not to start, it’s really, really easy…”

Teaching people not to start.

That really is the key to avoiding a downward spiral into dependency and a life of crime.

For example, say you start with something as innocuous as Moscow hookers.

Before you know it, you’re doing GRU operatives and KGB agents.

Finally, you’re sneaking into the Russian embassy, in the trunk of a car, to use encrypted Kremlin lines.

With Lavrov and Kislyak in the Oval Office.

In the end, it just leads to depravity, ruin, and being frogmarched from the White House.

With a bag over your head.

Best never to even start down that road…

“If we can teach young people, and people generally, not to start, it’s really, really easy not to take ’em,” he said.

Says the man who’s never put in a hard day’s work in his seventy-one years on this earth.

@mattinpa @debg That’s before you subtract one trillion from Medicaid and half a trillion from Medicare, per the GOP’s budget.

I’m confused I thought Sessions already had this whole drug use thing covered with his whole “taking restraints off the police” and building new private prisons philosophy? Oh, wait thats right, that is all for addressing the deadly menace posed by them urban minority junkies, while this is about those unfortunate rural white victims of addiction.

Big deal, that puts Fred Jr in a pool of people comprising about 7 billion others.

It’s a wonder we all don’t go on the nod this year.

What’s the catch? Which Trump donor is now into DRUG THREATMENT CLINICS. You know there’s a catch, RIGHT? It’s ‘catch-all, beat-all’, for Trump.

How would money-laundering work using government contracts, it’s something to consider. How could a crook manage to use the government to launder money and make a profit at no loss. If there’s away CROOK Trump will find it. …

Remember the Pray away Clinics run by Michelle Bachman and her Husband? And I heard her name mentioned regarding the Crazy Republican woman running for office in AZ. What’s up with that.

Once you’ve managed to use the system to make money and get rich, like Michelle did and Trump did in NY for his high rise building, it’s so easy you fill entitled to more, AND hey why bring your ALREDY wealthy crew with you. Paybacks in the greenbacks. Pork, pork and more pork. Pgs.

It sounds as if he is as committed to this as he is to Puerto Rico. He’ll also use the same timeline: watch for the press hoopla to die down, then they’ll abandon it because they aren’t getting praise. But don’t worry—they’ll claim that these are all addicts from Obama’s presidency—didn’t happen on his watch. (You can’t expect us to cure these addicts forever—they have to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps.”)

Wait … didn’t the House just tell us that the executive couldn’t use funds appropriated for one purpose to fund another? Will they sue Trump over this?

Administration officials have made clear that the declaration, which
lasts for 90 days and can be renewed, comes with no dedicated dollars.

The announcement itself, bringing in all those different people for the photo op, probably cost more than they have in the public health emergency fund. And trump didn’t even bother to say he was going to insist on increased funding from congress.

Maybe Trump should stop underfilling and underfunding the CDC then. Maybe he should talk his AG into allowing research into medical marijuana which has shown to have some positive effects on heavy and harder drug use, maybe he should fund preventive healthcare, ok I’ll stop, I know he won’t do any of those things. Trump and the GOP neither care nor intend to do anything about the opiod crisis, they may run a big Just Say No style marketing campaign, but the’ll only do that if they can make enough money from it.
