You must know more about the case than I do, the text does say it was a ‘family business’, I don’t see any suggestions about him being ‘sanctimoneus’.
I’m an atheist, but I see, way too often, both in the Danish and the international media quite irrelevant personal details for the case at hand, usually painting the person as an ‘other’ (immigrant, muslim (never Jewish, that is ‘too soon’, but it will come, some day…). Often this is just sloppy work (and not intentionally), but it does damage.
