Not sure. But King is not very Jew-friendly. A corrupt Chabadnik (mind, I’m generally fine with Chabad) like Rubashkin would not have been the kind of guy Steve King would mind grinding into dirt.

I think Trump, like a lot of casual antisemites, believes certain common stereotypes about Jewish people, and thinks that this will help him with conservative Jews enough to matter. I don’t think it will help all that much even with that crowd, although I suspect a fair number of people think Rubashkin was railroaded. And in all fairness, if Rubashkin has already served 7 years, it’s enough for that kind of white-collar crime.

Next he will sign an executive order saying money laundering is not a crime. Cutting down that onerous legal code to create (criminal) economic growth.

I was thinking the hiring of illegals, but the plant is located in eastern Iowa and King’s district in in the west.

Trump commuted it because the conviction was for money laundering. He needs to set a precedent for commutation for money laundering.

Yes. Build the Wall!
Around Iowa.

This guy was premeditated and slimy. Never showed remorse. Employed 400 illegals including 67 children (got that, Trumpsters? Donny don’t really give a crap about illegals). $27M loss for 27 years imprisonment. Sounds poetic. Obama refused.

“(Rubashkin) orchestrated a massive criminal scheme that impacted a very large community, that is, defrauded financial institutions for approximately 10 years, harbored an illegal workforce and laundered millions of dollars in an effort to provide kosher products across the nation,” she [District Court Judge Linda Reade] wrote. The court recognized that “(Rubashkin) repeatedly tried to obstruct justice when his criminal scheme came to light, never acknowledged what the law requires and never wholeheartedly accepted responsibility.”

Sort of thought with the 389 immigrant workers without papers would have sent Trump to extending the sentence. How strange.

He sounds Russian.

Trump is going to be furious when he learns this and the embassy move to Jerusalem don’t entitle him to every vote cast by The Jews ™.

@lastroth You need more than a single dollop of hypocrisy with Donnie.

“Rubashki was convicted in 2009 of financial fraud for submitting fake invoices to the plant’s bank that made the company’s finances appear healthier than they were so that it could borrow more.”

Evidently this kind of ‘creative accounting’ hits too close to home for Trump.

Practicing for future family and gang members of the trump mob.
How refreshing.
Better to cut the head off this snake now before the little ones get away.

Money laundering? Really? Add the undocumented immigrants and he got 2/3s of the trifecta right there. What no terrorists? No MS-13 gangsters? Obviously Jared still has some pull.

From now on, every time some blithering wingnut lunatic gets his panties in a twist about Clinton’s pardon of Marc Rich I’m going to throw this in his face, laugh, and tell him to go fuck himself in the ass with a rusty chainsaw.
