Discussion: Trump Claims Falsely That Hurricane Maria Death Toll Has Been Inflated

Well Georgia and the Carolinas voted for Trump so they are at least going to get fairly positive tweets. Woe be unto the state of Virginia though.

From the perspective of dark performance art, Donald Trump is a genius. He always has a new act, and one that is more bizarre and disturbing than the one that preceded it.

Point? It’s like saying to someone who says only 3 people died of AIDS, “In fairness the number of people who died from AIDS was very small on the first day. It was only later the numbers got bigger.”

The requisite, gratuitous caps in this one are particularly egregious and quite telling…

Billions of Dollars

Maybe he should build those internment camps in Puerto Rico?

Oh, wait, he might just like that idea.

You’re implying there’s a strategy here, because there has always been a strategy, that there simply has to be a strategy. I reject this assertion.

So on Monday Terry Gross had on chef Jose Andres and talked to him about his World Central Kitchen and Chefs for Puerto Rico. This was a great interview. One of the things I took away from it is that Andres was the son of two hospital nurses. He would go with one parent to the hospital in the evening when that parent worked the night shift and return home with the parent that was getting off the day shift. He said in all that time at the hospital he remembers only seeing one dead person. Then he talked about traveling around P.R. to set up kitchens to feed people and say many, many dead bodies. So yeah fuck Trump.

This incident is not mentioned in the article, but if you listen to the program you’ll hear him describe the situation.

In Donnie’s demented world, data is dangerous, facts are alternative, news is fake, evidence is irrelevant, and truth is treasonous.

I hadn’t seen that yet but AP is reliably stuck in the '80s in their institutional inability to handle new developments like the nihilism of the Republican Party and the election of a president who’s a mentally ill congenital liar. They have some good people, as any venue does—it was Jonathan Lemire who put Trump on the spot in Helsinki. That was about as serious a wound as anyone has dealt him so far. But the organization—yeesh. The epitome of mediocrity and obsolescence.

Like the Argentineans who marched and held vigils for the disappeared Puerto Rican’s need to do something similar.

Does this mean the 3,000 names won’t be challenged when they vote against this fool?

I think its more a tactic than a strategy. And its one they have been executing since the GOP priimary. Call it the baffle them with bullshit overload tactic.

And its proven extremely effective against our collective media, which cannot stay on a subject when ever another shiny ball is rolled out, no matter the size of the new ball.

Trump is not far removed from a 9/11 truther or Holocaust denier. Facts and science elude them.

I think @inversion 's point was that Santorum didn’t realize that Pueror Rico isn’t a country but part of the united states…
