How did we miss all those bake sales he had to “successfully raise Billions of dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico”?
Did anyone tell Donnie this death toll is based on an independent Harvard study? As much as he worships the Ivy, you would think that might penetrate his semi-conscious state. But no, he’ll just say Harvard is a liberal haven that can’t be trusted because they’re all out to get him.
And does he really think that he personally “raised billions” of dollars for Puerto Rico? That was not charity money, ass, it was taxpayer dollars and it was appropriated by Congress. You had jack shit to do with it.
Of course, this is the idiot who thought we could get rid of the federal debt by printing more money. (Per Cohn in the Woodward book)
ETA: correction, the official study was by George Washington University. The Harvard study was over 4600 excess deaths from Maria.
He has blotted out of existence almost 3000 hurricane victims. The upside for him? No need to send “best wishes” to all those dead people who, after all, were Puerto Rican, barely human to this madman.
You have to hope and trust there are protocols for how federal, state, and local authorities coordinate during natural disasters. I was always a little dubious about what any president can do in the hours before an event. Post-Katrina you know how wrong it can go, and impoverished areas aren’t going to have the same resources, levels of training and all. But there are a lot of serious professionals in the helping biz, and a shitty president won’t stop them from doing their jobs.
Denying people’s deaths…Denying the grieving…Denying the pain…Denying those lives existed. I can’t really formulate a response that won’t very likely involve a visit from the Secret Service.
Inflating the numbers … BAD … so bad ----
Deflating them ? ? … meh … not so much —
“…while I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help Puerto Rico.”
Really???
IIRC individuals and businesses worldwide were busy raising/donating billions of dollars for hurricane relief while your administration was busy mismanaging the dollars Congress had allocated for disaster management. This is just dumb.
In fairness the number he was originally told was 6-18 (or something similar.) That number was extremely preliminary. The 3000 number is the result of a comprehensive study sometime later.
Dragging the Maria death toll back up above the first-page fold is some brilliant zero-dimensional chess, Mr. President. More winning.
We really need a “Git da fuk outta here” message from the media to this lying sack of shit.
He’s a lifetime lying grifter whose “MO” is wearing increasingly thin on the national stage.
How much longer, Oh Lord, can this piece of shit last there? I have anvils on my shoulders bearing the weight of his lies, and the utter depression of knowing that such a charlatan occupies the Presidency.
THIS is fabulous!
And right before a big hurricane slams into the Carolinas/Virginia.
But…it does get the Woodward book and anonymous NYT oped off the front pages, so there is that.
Which is precisely the OP that this administration has always operated upon. No matter how bad a thing is, if it gets a worse thing off the news, go with it.
I suppose we should be grateful at how often there’s a random fact dragooned into the service of the huge lie. Of course, anybody who’s, like, a smart person knows the first numbers in the first chaotic hours and days aren’t at all reliable. But it’s not a smart person. It’s Trump.
Those people in coffins? Paid actors! Or their families anyway, who were willing to sacrifice a family member for a few extra shekels.

but when CNN says he’s making false claims about life and death we may be seeing the media abandon false equivalence in favor of simply saying what the facts are and acknowledging that Trump is a constant outrageous liar.

I’m surprised he hasn’t tweeted yet about how sad it is that all those Carolina golf courses might be hurt. They have his thoughts and prayers.
A linear array of Trump lies in time.
…thread.
This one’s a keeper, Eustace!
Yes. The AP headline is that Trump made this claim “without evidence.” Gutsy!
