Discussion: Trump Camp Walks Back His Claim That He 'Never' Spoke With FL AG Pam Bondi

For shame, sir! Auto-plagiarism? The horror of it!

Deniabilityā€¦ but it doesnā€™t hafta be anywhere close to plausible. In this Bondi pay for play scandal he clearly lied and now he is trying to wiggle his way out of it. It remains to be seen how far the journalists will follow the trail. Will they say he is a liar on national TV? Will they want to see an effect on his poll numbers or will they still try to arrange a ā€œhorse raceā€ just for their ratings and screw the effect on the country if the worst candidate in the history of America gets elected.

I donā€™t think trump has ever in his career ever applied to a job where he had to sit for an interview and offer a resume of what his accomplishments were. Before this campaign I mean.
He has always been self employed. Soā€¦how could he know what looking for a job means? How could he know what ordinary folk go thru?

$25,000 to Bondi and she drops the investigation into the fraud that was Trump University.
What are the amounts of his ā€œcontributionsā€ to other politicians during the past 10 years? What did he get in return? Contributions should be discoverable. And just compare the time of the ā€œcontributionā€ to what was going on with his businesses then.
Iā€™m going to bet that the more he gave, the more he got.
And if he didnā€™t get anything, Iā€™ll bet the contribution was $2000 or less.
And where are the tax returns?

Has anyone figured out how many state AGs Trump has donated to? I think it would be an interesting number for when he tries to defend this donationā€¦

And IF Trump paid the foundation back the $25,000 as Ms. Hicks claims, did he take a tax deduction for a charitable contribution to the Trump Foundation? Another reason for the media to demand that Trump release his tax returns.

First it is typical self serving Trump. He cant remember because it would be damaging to him to admit he spoke to her and besides he is so important that he talks to hundreds of people a day and has never had to keep records like his draft medical disqualification how DARE you even compare that to HRC. She should be locked up.

Second of all, his inability to remember is proof that he is too old and not mentally up to the vigorous challenges of being President someone go on CNN and MSNBC and FOX and claim he is mentally and medically unfit.

Marshall, you have to stay on this, there is also the possibility of something else here. It would be nice to see his tax returns. Push him

ā€œI never spoke to her, first of all. Sheā€™s a fine person, beyond reproach. I never even spoke to her about it at all. Sheā€™s a fine person. Never spoken to her about it, never,ā€ Trump said, according to the Washington Post. ā€œMany of the attorney generals turned that case down because Iā€™ll win that case in court. Many turned that down. I never spoke to her.ā€

Double talk. First he claims he never spoke to her, then changes that to never spoke to her about ā€œit,ā€ then changes that back to never spoke to her. In between, irrelevant noise about what a fine person she is, that many (not all) attorney generals turned down the case, and that heā€™ll win the case in any event.

Trump says something stupid/ignorant/dishonest and his camp steps in to fix it. This is the model of the Trump campaign, and it will be the model of the Trump administration.

More proof that he is maybe the worldā€™s biggest liar.

Apparently, Donnie had to give his campaign another massive loan. Wonder if Pam will hold a fundraiser for her pal.

The New York Times Editorial Board just published an editorial alluding to this corrupt behavior, but so far the NYT still has not run one single story of its own about it. The only reference thus in this ā€œpaper of recordā€ is a reference to a statement by Hillary Clinton about it, buried deep in a story about the fall campaigns. It also published the AP story, but not - as far as I can tell - on the front page.

Exactly. He has admitted to a long history of bribery, only in his corrupted mind itā€™s just ā€œbusinessā€. the purpose of business is to make money by any means necessary. Right? Whatā€™s a little baksheesh here and there. Everyone does it. There is no such thing as ethics in his world.

Also, his claim that it is just business was a response to the right wing attack that he had sent money to Democrats in the past.

What I would like to see is his record of giving money to any Florida politicians. $25,000 is a lot fro an individual. For a statewide office, its huge.

Something is really wrong with him.

I am amazed that journalists who are aware of how Putin treats journalists he doesnā€™t like (murder, poisoning, etc.) have no problem giving Trump all the room he needs to win. More proof that the press are complete morons (see Bash, Dana).

How many political contributions were made by the Foundation? Was the Texas gift to Abbott from the foundation too? Texas stopped a probe of Trump U that caught the chief investigator by total surprise and he never got a reason why.

Trump hates giving and when he does he expects something for it that will benefit him.

The NBC Nightly News is beginning to pick up this story. Katie Tur had a bit on it tonight, tracking some of Dishonest Donā€™s backtracking here. Maddow on MSNBC is digging into it, too. And NPRā€™s All Things Considered was looking at it this evening.

Letā€™s hope it gets picked up more broadly still.
