This is painful. It’s like if Nixon’s drunken crying and talking to the paintings had happened on the Mike Douglas show. He’s decompensating in this horrible public way and if anyone in his family or the upper levels of the GOP had a shred of common decency they’d be taking steps to end it.

It’s useful to view Trump’s statements through the lens of his own admission to Leslie Stahl: slam, belittle, and berate, so as to preemptively reduce credibility. He learned this approach long ago, and it was working for him, but we the people, or at least most of us, are getting tired of it.
