Contract with a speech writer to craft something for the Values Voter Summit. Tell the scribe to come up with something that will have the crowd stand and roar. He’ll walk off and say to himself “This idiot just paid me to do the easiest damn thing there is to pull off on the planet.” It’s like throwing stale bread into a carp pond.

I think Trump will run as a third party candidate, just to spite other republicans. It keeps his ego intact and also keeps the focus on him instead of the republican nominee.

Because, ultimately, he’s a pandering rich man, a narcissist, a blowhard, a phony, and a serial grifter…but he’s NOT actually a conservative. At some level, the base knows that, and overcome their aversion because he so skillfully articulates the hatred they feel. But that doesn’t mean he always believes it, or that they always believe him.
