Discussion: Trump Attacks On Justice Department Are At Heart Of Cohen Case

“They say typical DOJ protocol, in which a “filter” or “taint” team of prosecutors who are not involved in the case handles that task, will not suffice.”

Well, they’re right about that.

For this job, they’ll need a stench team.

Trump’s jackasses really have no shame.

Prosecutors counter that any questions about DOJ’s impartiality are the result of attacks leveled by Trump himself.

Prosecutors should counter that any questions about DOJ’s impartiality are illegitimate because they are the result of nonsensical, self-serving attacks leveled by Trump himself.

“It’s not easy to convince a federal judge to view the law enforcement process as biased.”

Law enforcement has a well-known bias against crime.

Trump’s toes are sticking over the edge. He’s staring into the abyss. He doesn’t like the view.

This is pounding the table and yelling that your client can’t get fair treatment in a noisy courtroom.

Desperation. Whatever’s in those records must be sheer poison.

Cohen and Spanky are correct on this.
DOJ REALLY doesn’t like crooks…especially foreign agent crooks.
Just saying!

Trump and Cohen are the kids that murdered their parents, and now plead for mercy from the court because they’re traumatized orphans.

Trump brought his criminal business practices directly into the White House and he’s not even much trying to disguise it. Since his awful, mendacious campaign and up until today, he’s waged a war on the entire justice system and the notion that there are laws on the books that have consequences if broken. He’s attacked the press and the DOJ because if he whines loudly enough, incessantly claims he’s the victim, maybe he’ll get out unscathed. There is method to him madness, though; by making the law a purely partisan affair, it makes his law-breaking just a thing to be noticed by his opponents and no matter what he does, it’s a groundless witch hunt. Good luck with that, Mango Moron.

Don’t worry. They didn’t forget about attacking the judiciary as well:

Appointed by Reagan…but that just sortof gets buried in the hyper-focus on the rest of it of course.

“There is a growing public debate about whether criminal and congressional investigations by the government are being undertaken impartially, free of any political bias or partisan motivation,” Todd Harrison, an attorney for Cohen, wrote in a Monday morning court filing.

There’s also a growing debate about whether your client, and his client, are crooked pieces of shit. Would you like them to be subject to the same kind of summary lynching you’re advocating for those conducting this investigation?

Judge Wood has been on the bench for 30 years. She works with the SDNY federal prosecutors every day. She knows they aren’t biased, except to the extent that they don’t like wrongdoing or wrongdoers. She’s not some slack-jawed pea picker who’s going to be dazzled by whatever junior college sophistry Dump’s lawyers are doling out.

The exact moment Todd Harrison sacrificed his professional reputation and dignity for his client.

Like night follows day, like the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, that’s how predictable this was.

OTOH this couldn’t ever have been predicted, Gorsuch siding with liberals

Drumpf’s team is acting out the definition I learned for hutzpah:

A man is dragged before a judge for killing his parents. Convicted, he pleads for mercy on the grounds that he’s an orphan.

Th long and the short of it is that they created the purportedly prejudicing circumstances. It’s folly to take account of them in determining the outcome in anything outside of his obstruction trial.

And this looks like the exact moment that Toad Harrison’s tongue is going to shoot out and catch that fly:

That public debate is limited to Fux and Friends who’s mouths have direct access to the occupant’s ears.

… would be five steps up for Trump and Cohen, morally as well as in other respects.
