Discussion: Trump Aide: I've Seen No Evidence Of Moment Of Silence For Dallas Shooter

Of course, this story wonā€™t find its way into the media narrative generally. After a couple of days people will believe somebody, probably the President, called for a moment of silence for the Dallas shooter. Why, because as far as the modern media machine is concerned truth doesnā€™t exist. Every lie Trump spews has to be repeated endlessly.

Clovis allowed. ā€œIā€™ve seen moments where Iā€™ve seen in some of these demonstrations, Iā€™ve seen thereā€™s a reverence paid to the shooter that is, really, itā€™s startling."

Sam, how about some citations? And Cuomo, how about pressing the point and asking for some goddamned specifics?

This pig simply makes shit up like his fascist conman candidate does.

I donā€™t know what Fat Sam is talking about. They were right next to all the people Von Clownstick saw cheering as the World Trade Center collapsed.

Iā€™ve seen thereā€™s a reverence paid to the shooterā€¦

What do you suppose that is exactly? If Clovis went back and reviewed all the tapes of demonstrators (ā€˜cause he sure as heck wasnā€™t there), do you suppose he could point out an example of this "reverenceā€™? Even one?

Exactly. When and where did this ā€œreverenceā€ paid to the Dallas sniper take place and at which demonstration? In what form what this ā€œreverenceā€ shown exactly?

This fat pig canā€™t name any because he didnā€™t see any of this.

a reverence paid to the shooter

Staggering, cold-blooded, intentional race baiting by this disgrace of a candidate on a day when others of all political stripes attempted healing. So much so even his spinner wobbles. Thank God most mediaā€™s there with a cold beverage and a fake poll (/s)ā€¦

In three days, he will say that he saw it on Twitter.

Look, Iā€™ve criticized the media a fair bit, and Iā€™ve also tried to do it in a nuanced way and been accused of being an apologist for them. And Iā€™ve got a thick enough skin that I donā€™t much care. That said, is this an incident on which it makes sense to base a dismissal of the entire media world as in the tank for Trump? A host on one of the leading cable news networks put a Trump surrogate on the spot and made him admit he hadnā€™t personally seen any moment of silence calls. What more do you want? For Cuomo to give the guy noogies until he admits itā€™s all lies from start to finish? Sure, the b.s. goes reverberating out regardless. But if this isnā€™t a pretty clear case of a prominent media person pushing back on the lies, then seriously, what would be?

ā€œI personally have not,ā€ Clovis allowed. ā€œIā€™ve seen moments where Iā€™ve seen in some of these demonstrations, Iā€™ve seen thereā€™s a reverence paid to the shooter that is, really, itā€™s startling. I think that isā€”

Chances are they are still trying to frame the narrative to get the usual political points, but it shouldnā€™t be surprising if they begin using Twitter or a Pacifica station as that point of reference.

when you have a person who purposefully and with intent murders five police officers, thatā€™s terrible, and I donā€™t think you should celebrate that in any way shape or form.ā€

and you shouldnā€™t mention it without citations, but here you areā€¦

oh my god!..

Trump first alluded to unnamed individuals calling for a moment of silence for the Dallas shooter on Tuesday at an Indiana rally and in an interview on Fox News.

OH! MY! GOD!..!!!1!!!

Well since it is all lies from start to finish, it might be appropriate to keep at until he admits that is was fabricated bullshit. (noogies optional)

We will see.

I made the mistake of watching the three early evening MSNBC shows the last few days. Although they arenā€™t open about it those shows are all about promoting Trump. MSNBC doesnā€™t become rational before Chris Hayes. The people on CNN are all about promoting Trump as well. Fox News is just Fox News. Look at the guests the media invites week in and week out and it is hard not to conclude a very deep and abiding conservative bias. Rudy Giuliani is an older version of David Duke but he is given legitimacy by cable channels everywhere.

More importantly the media exists to sell ad space. Without a horse race the cable companies suck air. If you look closely at all of the indicators it is just hard to see how Trump is at all competitive. The only thing Trump has going for him is the fawning press happy to repeat any crazy thing he says over and over again. Repeated enough any lie can become the truth.

Guest: Ridiculous thing.
Host: Oh, come on, did you actually see that?
Guest: No, I didnā€™t see it personally. But I have seen something exactly like that and I shall describe it slightly differently to see if you catch it.
Host: And weā€™ll have to leave it there.

Iā€™m not ready to call what I see on TV push-back. Still hoping though.

ā€œContext, my eye. Either youā€™ve seen they were calling for a moment of silence or you havenā€™t.ā€ Boy, when milquetoast CNN straight calls you out, youā€™re in trouble. Credit where credit is due to CNN. Thank you, C. Cuomo.
