Discussion: Trump Adviser: Clinton Should Be 'Shot For Treason' Over Benghazi Attack (VIDEO)

The MSM desperately NEEDS a “close horse-race” and will do, and say. and more importantly IGNORE absolutely ANYTHING to project that idea.
This election cycle there is almost $3 Billion of political advertising money available and unless they “keep all the plates spinning” and constantly reinforce the false idea that “it’s a DEAD-HEAT ELECTION!!!” they will miss out on a LOT of that succulent money.
On top of that, “TRUMP” and his insane ranting is “GOOD FOR RATINGS” as Leslie Moonvies (CEO of CBS) laughingly confirmed during the primary.
Never forget; The MSM exists for only one reason: To sell pickup trucks, beer, toilet paper, and boner-pills.
Everything else (and I mean EVERYTHING) is subservient to that fact.
Once you understand this, it all begins to make sense.
I am reminded of the quote: “So this is how Democracy dies: With Thunderous Applause”

Damn - my memory is getting rusty - you may be right.

Thank you. I have learned this week that I cannot flip on any of the ‘cables’. When I do, reflexively, it is only about 15 seconds until I am screaming, spitting coffee and threatening certain death. I have to turn off the TV because even if I go to some benign channel showing reruns they feel the need to break in and inform us of the latest moronic crap some GOPper has said or done. I have been reading quite a bit. However, I am work on my lunch and decided to ‘dip in’ to the toxic waste pit and sure enough! I can’t even READ about it. See you next week!

You just earned a “like” from a guy who has worked in an ad agencies for 25 years. Everything you speak here is truth.

Well said tena, well said. I remember the “dark ages” when the Huntley-Brinkley Report was all of 15 minutes long …counting commercials. News was predominantly gotten from print journalists in newspapers that were delivered to your home. There’s still a paper here in Tucson that can be delivered that way but the level if craft within has suffered.

I saw people like Dan Rather talk about this…when the networks were different…darr, I could not agree more, and when you said “filthy lucre” that was my sentiment exactly.

NOW, we are in it. We can watch as the Trump Information Bureau (T.I.B. which is really the MSM) hands the election to a man who will not only wreck our government, but our cultural institutions, financial institutions, NATO, the environment, social policy to protect minorities from racism and a host of other things.

Earlier this week I had to (once again) console a Latino who is horrified at the prospect of Trump. But outside of some who have been on the firing line of bigotry, there has not been, in my opinion, a balanced, mature response to Trumpism and the GOP:

Which would be a ZEAL for voting like one’s life depended on it (because it does) and also some COLLECTIVE response to this journalistic malpractice. Simple historical references would suffice. Have we often had top campaign surrogates call for the opposing candidate’s DEATH? Have we often had candidates announce that foreign AND domestic policy handled by the VP? Hillary has a great staff so I am going to have to assume that they are aware of what all three of us are.

That is my only hope. If the MSM continues on its present path, Trump wins.

Best and clearest comment on the state of the 4th estate I have read in a very long time. I attempted the same up thread but your post is way better than my bumbling attempt.

I’m not as pessimistic as you are about this, emiliano. I do not think that Trump is going to be elected. And I don’t really think the MSM wants that. They just want a horserace to a photo finish to keep their audience interested.

Most Americans, in my view, are not represented in any way by the people at the Trump convention. Those are the people who voted to nominate him. They are the ruin of the GOP because of it.

The GOP out maneuvered itself with gerrymandering. It has forced them to run to their most extreme base since they are in districts that are already conservative; it’s the only way they can get a nomination these days. They killed themselves with it.

And I am damn sure that the free market capitalism of Reagan has killed itself too, just like it was always destined to do because extremes of anything aren’t good and don’t last.

emiliano - Americans are not by and large extremists. The majority of the population is still pretty centric and interested in common sense.

Trump says the Repubs are the “law and order” party, but it would seem they desire vigilante justice, disorder, and executions. WTF?? The Repubs are the Insanity Party!

Emiliano read what @Khaaannn posted up thread on the state of the 4th estate. I highly recommend what was posted.
If the polls are to be believed then trump won’t win. I have heard (I don’t have a link) that in California voter registration is up 80%. But voter registration for democrats is up well over 200%
The best thing we can do is make sure all the folks in our circle of contacts who are voter eligible actually get to the polls in November. A higher turnout favors democrats. My sense is that if GOPers continue to say shit like “Hillary should be shot” that sane people will be horrified by the prospect of someone who has supporters like that getting in office. My family relations are predominantly republicans. To a person they are adamant about not voting for trump. I have many close friends but only one close friend who thinks Trump would make a good choice.

This should make you feel a bit better:

You just might be right, too. Unfortunately, I’m from Missouri on this.

IOW, I want America to show me that it doesn’t accept shit like this.

Précisément! May I use this?

and for all of the comments here wishing that George Bush and Dick Cheney were put on trial for war crimes, we allowed that they deserved a trial - not vigilante justice.
