This is what’s missing in this so-called ‘immigration debate’. Just exactly WHY are thousands of people leaving Central American countries to make their way to the USA?
So what is the root cause of this displacement, and I wonder how FIVE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS, my tax dollars, could better be spent addressing the WHY?
A half-billion dollars goes a long way in Central America. But the GOP would rather put on band aids and get a tax cut.

Exactly. I suspect a lot of the root cause was US involvement and investment in training right-wing military and paramilitary groups in Central America in the '80’s and the unintended consequences therefrom. Those activities were rooted in the cold war and Reagan’s reaction to the Sandinistas, but they continued through at least the Clinton and GWBush eras. No one wants to own that now.
The “war on drugs” and America’s consumption of drugs is another contributing factor.
I for the life of me have never been able to figure out why the US is so fixated on Europe and Asia to the exclusion of our own hemisphere.
Not sure how much of a Trump buddy he is, but he made $1.5 million last year (up from $700k the year before; hm…), while asking his underpaid no-benefit employees to contribute out of their paychecks towards the detained kids getting enough care.
I used to love gold accents on everything but now I associate it with monsters (ivanka™️ overuses it in her lifestyle brand). To be honest, I was probably already moving on from my gold accent phase, I’m all about leafy green patterns now.
Gold boots, on the other hand, will always be cool even if an a-hole like McCarthy is wearing them. Snake skin too. I hope to never see Ted Cruz’s feet, I’ve got a feeling he would wear them.
