I’m of the prejudice that if “Christian” is in the name of the place, the government has no business giving them any business at all, least of all custody of children.

Trump Admin Will Pay Nonprofit Half Billion Dollars In 2018 To House Migrant Kids

Who is the cronnie that is pocketing the bucks… profit folks, the name of the game is profit. Who the fuck cares if some brown kid dies in one of our kinder centers, if they did not break the law they would not be there.

I would like to point out that IF the minimum wage were $15/hour a FAMILY with 2 full time wage earners would gross $240 per day before withholdings. That’s a little less than “cheap” daily cost PER PERSON to house these immigrants. And, no, I don’t think they are being coddled.

Point is:
The minimum wage is NOT $15/hour and
Most minimum wage families have at least a couple of kids and may not be able to get 2 full time jobs due to lack of availability or child care considerations.

Thanks Obama /s

We also need to how they are vetting, training, and how much they are paying the staff.

It’s really interesting that the US is going this direction. If you look at the Chinese perspective, the biggest political issue is securing an economic future for China. In recent years, China has moved to upper middle income status under the World Bank definition. China’s goal is to join advanced economies. Unfortunately, countries making this climb have often ended up on a limb or ledge and get caught in the “middle-income” trap. The environment is degrading too fast, political corruption is too extensive, the population is not getting sufficiently educated, the banking and financial system is too bubbly, resources are being depleted without a long term plan, etc. The good news for the Chinese leadership is that they only have to be better than the other guy, not perfect. Trump and the Cons as you say, continue to lower the bar, even starting a trade war! Even if you were a fiction-writer, it would be hard to find a more incompetent foil than the Trump administration.

This money needs to come out of Trump’s wall fund.

A thousand dollars a day each to keep children in tents. With “caretakers” who aren’t allowed to touch the kids. And staffing levels (apparently) that would get a daycare facility shut down instantly. Somewhere there’s a contractor who is making a pile of money.

I am ashamed to say these people are located here in Austin.

Call them and tell them to stop being complicit in this crime.

Their other website that had an email link crashed.

They have done some good work here and with other immigrant housing, but they need to know this must stop. Tell them to walk away from the blood money.

And in a related matter, here is a story about the child prison, er “detention facility” in Florida. https://www.rawstory.com/2018/06/floridas-gop-governor-proud-huge-tax-award-gave-fraud-charged-company-housing-migrant-kids/

I guess that FL governor Sick Rott, felt a bit of paternal pride for this company’s shenanigans, not a good a job as Columbia/HCA did when Rott was the ceo. SO kind of like how a Major League ballplayer is proud of his kid’s T-ball game.

Still, it’s good to see the guv nurturing the next generation of corporate thieves and con artists.

Trump admin will pay? …or you mean, the US taxpayer will pay for Trump’s cruel and inhumane behavior?

How long before we learn that the CEO or Chairman of the Board of “Southwest Key Programs” is a Trump buddy, who will cash millions in salary from them?

Why are people caught entering illegally held in the US. Why not send them back to Country of origin? Or tell Country of origin to take them?

Interesting how a lot of these “nonprofits” have really rich CEOs.

it costs an average of $775 per person per day to hold the children in the tents, while it only costs $298 per person, per day to keep the families together.

Bottom line, the policy is profitable to connected players. There is work to be done here, who is Southwest Key Programs, who run them, who own them and do they have connected friends.

I’d sure like to know more about this “nonprofit.”

The US Army and Gerbers have just announced a team effort to make MREs for babies, infants, toddlers and tots. New flavors include chicken nuggets, fish sticks, breast milk, chocolate pudding, and Lucky Charms. Each packet will come with a little plastic toy (not recommended for children below 3 years of age – the 30 minutes reserved for training of temporary staff will include instructions on how to be on the alert for signs of choking, although by law they cannot intercede).

How long before we find out it’s Scott Pruitt’s wife, running it out of Chick Fil A’ franchise ??

future costs… for dna repatriation, for psychological treatment, for ongoing deportation…

It’s nice of Bloomberg to try and put lipstick on this pig. It gives the impression that these kids will actually be cared for.

The policy is inhumane and needs to end.

When is Bloomberg going to start calling for that?
