Must be the dreaded Kobach clause…

It’s all about depressing population figures for Democratic areas.

So what happens if everyone just says yes, I’m a citizen.

Motto of the GOP: when you know you’re gonna lose by playing fair, cheat. Since you never know when you’re gonna lose, cheat all the time, just to be safe.

One must truly be astonished at the brazen manner in which the Republican Party will do anything to depress voting and congressional representation by anyone who isn’t Republican. Extreme gerrymandering? Cheok. Restrictive voting ID? Check. Cutting back on early voting? Check. Purging voter rolls? Check. Now it’s just not counting people by subtly discouraging them from filling out a census form.

Is there any institution with a greater hatred of democracy than the GOP?

Is it illegal to refuse to answer that question?

This is not the only way that the GOP is attempting to hack the census. Another proposed change is to count overseas military personnel as residing at the base or port they were deployed from, instead of where they enlisted. This would provide a substantial population boost to states with military bases.

This is from the people who wanted nonvoting slaves counted in full.

California is suing the Trump administration over this.

So your asking the victims to lie? What would happen if everyone said no I am not a citizen. Suddenly the population of citizens drop by 50 %. That would shock it.

Yeah, it’s the Dixiecrat approach to managing elections bubbling up to the surface, another long term by-product of Nixon’s southern strategy.

" Adams said. “This carries the nation one step closer to preventing against actual foreign influences in our elections.”"

Removing the §resident seems to be a more assured way of achieving that.

“It’s critical that the next redistricting cycle account for the citizen residents of districts so urban centers do not unfairly profit from the political subsidy that higher noncitizen populations provide,”

That is a lot of sentence to parse. Maybe he should advocate building walls around “those” people so no one can see them.

“The Trump administration on Monday evening announced that it was making a controversial change to the upcoming 2020 Census that experts say could lead to an undercount — particularly among minority and urban communities.”

That’s a FEATURE. Not a BUG.

The only way to fight DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGE is to skew the system so much it begins to look like the “3/5ths Solution” in the original Constitution. And for the exact same reason; To keep White Males in power.

Census protocol is, any proposed change to the census has to be field tested before it’s made. And if it shows that it will reduce participation, it is thrown out. AFAIK this change has NOT been field tested. Which would mean the citizenship question is purely political. That is, to screw California.

What about Puerto Ricans in FL, NY, CT? MN has a large population of Somalis, along with KS (Garden City bombing trial going on now).

Damn. This is the scorecard to a conversation i had last night (over beer) with a good buddy who is also a die-hard Republican. He went off touting the major breakthrough of T rump accepting the invitation to meet with Kim Jung Un. I pointed out that for the duration of Obama’s term, everyone who breathes red accused Obama of being soft on radical communism and soft on terror for even mentioning his willingness to meet with Kim Jung Un. To my friends credit, he is not a fan of T rump and claims he did not vote for the Dotard, but i then proceeded to throw gasoline on the fire i had started by asking him how many appointed officials had been indicted or plead guilty to felonies during the terms of Carter, Clinton, and Obama. He responded Lots i’m sure! I told him it was only one, and that indictment was for perjury over a campaign finance violation. He didn’t buy the truth. I then asked him how many appointed officials had been indicted under Republican administrations, and he went off on Both sides do it! This is why we can’t have a decent conversation, because you libruls insist that only one side constantly does anything wrong when they’re in power. This reinforced the reality that most Republicans cling to their rhetoric that both sides are corrupt in order to excuse the obvious corruption committed by their own party, and avoid any discussion that yes! It is their Party that holds that title of corruption. They won’t even talk about it because it is the Democrats who throw stones. Fortunately, my wife changed the subject by pointing at a squirrel. Hey! LOOK!
