Discussion: Trump Admin Makes Change To Census Experts Say Will Lead To Undercount

“I find that the need for accurate citizenship data and the limited burden that the reinstatement of the citizenship question would impose outweigh fears about a potentially lower response rate,” Ross said.

Hate to bring, you know, logic to a discussion involving the Trump “administration”, but here goes…

Ross’ position is self-contradictory at face value.

He cites a need for “accurate citizenship data”, while simultaneously admitting a “lower response rate”.

Well, you can’t have both.

If the question lowers response rate, then it automatically decreases accuracy.

Any first-years stats student – or federal judge – understands this.

Ross, on the other hand, is a lying, Putin-licking, money-laundering criminal who should die in prison.

Sure, all of those. But CA has the most money to lose. And because Dump is at war with CA…

I been having that same conversation with my 80 year old mother for 40 years now.
Last week I hung up on her for the first time after she said the kids protesting should go get a part time job and trump is the best president we ever had. He’s not playing the political game like both sides aways do she said.
I hope when I’m 80, if I make it, I don’t sound like that. lol
OHHH I just remember saying that to you recently. I think. rinse and repeat. lol

I understand that, but it will also hurt others states, the ones that are the natural habitat of Trump voters.

Puerto Ricans are citizens.

This was our AG Xavier Becerra’s shot across the bow.

The Trump administration is threatening to derail the integrity of the census by seeking to add a question relating to citizenship to the 2020 census questionnaire. Innocuous at first blush, its effect would be truly insidious. It would discourage noncitizens and their citizen family members from responding to the census, resulting in a less accurate population count.

Including a citizenship question on the 2020 census is not just a bad idea — it is illegal

I am so confused (and/or naïve). WHY is the Trump Administration able to make so many ‘changes’ willy nilly without the advise and consent of Congress? Doesn’t seem to ‘checks and balances’ to me…

Yeah Judge Napolitano apparently explained it all to Fox and Friends this morning and they were aghast that the constitution is on California’s side in this. hahahaha

Can Puerto Ricans vote for U.S. president, Congress? Not if they live in the island. Since it’s not a state, Puerto Ricans in the island don’t vote in U.S. presidential elections and don’t vote in U.S. congressional elections, though they do vote for presidential primaries.

Puerto Ricans in the island do vote for a resident commissioner who represents the island’s interests in Washington, D.C., but is not a voting member of Congress.

However, Puerto Ricans who reside in the mainland U.S. vote do vote in U.S. elections. So that’s the difference — Puerto Ricans who live on the island participate in local elections, and those who live in the U.S. vote in U.S. elections

Rs are counting on this to happen.

an undercount in regions with high immigrant populations would lead not only to unreliable data but also to unfair redistricting, to the benefit of Republicans.

That’s all you need to know.

This question is a violation of the 5th amendment. Nobody has to admit to something they might culpable for, like not being a citizen.

Hey Wilbur Ross. I don’t do twitter but #I am Spartacus. Ever heard of me?

  1. And for the first time ever, the census magically shows a decrease in population.

  2. Republicans immediately claim that it’s primarily due to Trump deporting illegals.

  3. Reports abound of DOJ and ICE using the census to locate and summarily deport undocumented persons based on their “admission” they are not a citizen.

  4. Comment board ass known as Sniffit suggests massive movement to tell people to just skip the goddamn question, citizen or not.

LOL…you should see the KKKomment boards toward Judge Hedgehog lately. He’s repeatedly been forced to provide a correct legal analysis that runs counter to Trump and the alt-right methbilly tribal line over the past couple weeks. They are fucking done with him hahaha

Well, it’s a crime (18 USC 1001), so it would be pretty hard to publicly organize and advocate that people do such a thing. I guarantee you that the Trump DOJ nazis would bring the hammer down on you hard for trying to thwart their white nationalist maneuvering towards undermining democracy in favor of permanent white supremacist fascism.

Of course. hahahahahahahahahaha That’s great.

But since he said it on Fox and Friends, Trump heard it.

Well, you can be sure that the conservatives are busy and hard at work trying to drum up support for a Constitutional convention, etc. Moreover, constitutional Amendments that secure conservative Christian white supremacy for the foreseeable future existence of this country are precisely what they have planned if they can manage to quickly abuse their power over the federal gov’t and state gov’ts in the next couple years to secure sufficient seats in the House and Senate to force them through.

I wondered about that, too. I’m a citizen but I would opt not to answer.
