Discussion: Trump Adds More Fuel To Cover Fire As WH Anticipates Mueller Report

The press needs to give it a rest. I mean stalking Mueller in his Subaru Forester like crazed paparazzi after Princess Di. It’s done when Mueller says it’s done. Now onto more stories about Trump arguing with corpses, White House portraits and flowers in planter beds.

No, what makes you ask?

Your spidey sense. That is a super power.

I must admit that they are the fun stories

“I have a deputy, appoints a man to write a report on me, to make a determination on my presidency. People will not stand for it.”

Who is doing what with the huh?

I read that Trump as a sitting President cannot be indicted and the report will not disparage anyone not indicted.
The fix is in.

Trump is scared. He is very good (because he is versed in TV, public persona, etc…all the bullshit arts) at deflection…

I would not be surprised if he was “confident this is a witch hunt” as he’s led out of the WH in cuffs.

Ah, I love those photographs (like the one accompanying this article) where our great leader looks so bold and determined and manly and tough and really a superhero. Donald! Donald! MAGA! You’d have to be an ideological fool not to see his greatness and have voted for him. Donald! Donald! MAGA! MAGA!

What makes you think he’s gonna go quietly? He says people won’t stand for this…

OMG AP, just stop with metaphors. You are bad at them.

Cover Fire = sending ordnance downrange to protect your allies while they accomplish an objective
Suppressing Fire = sending ordnance downrange to suppress the enemy from attacking you

Neither of these involve setting an actual fire, to which you would “add more fuel”.

If you insist on the metaphor, Trump is laying down suppressing fire to prevent his enemies from mounting a successful attack on him. Maybe “smokescreen” or “diversion” would be better since he knows he can’t prevent the incoming Muellerbomb and he’s just hoping somehow it will miss him.

Democratic members of Congress talking to the media about the impeccable reputation of Robert Mueller, and the right of the people to know what the Grifter in Chief has been up to…that is “cover fire”.

Edit to add: thinking about it for a moment more, I suppose that if anybody were to actually set a fire and then attempt to take cover behind it - a “cover fire” if you will - it would be Cadet Bonespurs.

His messaging is odd. It doesn’t ring true in creating confusion or lowered expectations just to keep everything in chaos. It has that whistling past the grave yard sense.

His repetitious “No collusion, no collusion!” has the emotional edge of saying it to make it true, for himself. And if that is true, then he has no clue what is coming at him, meaning he is not getting the feedback from the people he expects to clue him in.

He doesn’t convey a sense of a person who is confident he knows the outcome by simple fact of innocence. And referring back to comments Josh made what seems a lifetime ago, there may be so much in play in Trump world, no one knows exactly what has been done. Trump could be completely free of any criminal action, but his entire operation could be corrupt to the core. And he doesn’t quite know if that is true or not.

The power of TV, public impression management, the whole NYC Message Machine, Madison Avenue…Trump has been around that for 50 years +. It is SO POWERFUL and he has got the Office of the Presidency, which authoritarian drones among us equate with a Monarchy.

Madison Avenue…

Who ELSE could have the gall to advertise a hybrid Cadillac SUV which gets 20 MPG???

Yeah, the Twitter warriors and Facebook army . . . well, the phrase “big talkin’ chickens” comes to mind.

These are definitely the words of a man expecting total exoneration.

I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think there will be any new indictments today. I have no basis for that, other than my Trump Fatigue Syndrome. If I’m wrong, I’ll cheer and celebrate. If I’m wrong, I’ll carry on as normal.

I read all the way down before posting my own opinion of their terrible headline and I’m glad I did.

I just see him constantly stirring the pot on purpose, creating FUD. He wants people to constantly be shocked and uncertain. Following his M.O., he will pull audacious moves so everyone is in reaction mode, not taking time to think things through. He will do this over and over. This current behavior however, including the McCain riffs does not follow through. It makes him look weak, fretting and uncertain. Not an image he is built to project intentionally. Time will tell I guess.
