The aide said that guys like me were "in what we call the reality-based community," which he defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." ... "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

Is Manafort trying to get fired?! Is he being tricked into saying completely unbelievable things? His credibility is fucked worse than any spokesman I can remember.
Donald met with your reporters?! When? Couldn’t have been him, he was right here with us in our suite! Are you sure you have your dates and times correct? Was the guy kinda tall, blonde hair? It must have been someone else. Did you ask for his ID?
“May I please speak with your supervisor?” usually works when dealing with a customer service rep who doesn’t seem to “get it”.
ETA: Does no one from the Trump camp or GOP see the complete irony in Donald basing his foreign policy on whether or not people (in this case, countries) pay their bills? I don’t know how the NYT reporter could sit there with a straight face when he uttered the phrase
“You can’t forget the bills,” Trump said. “They have an obligation to make payments. Many NATO nations are not making payments, are not making what they’re supposed to make. That’s a big thing. You can’t say forget that.”
Were Manafort to leave, the party elders would be right behind him. They can work with that Chaz Palmateri’s wannabe mad mind. Trump’s mind is akin to a broken down ‘hamster wheel’ and seeing it in action was why they likely had Lewandowski whacked.
Right before the Trump campaign goes on that whistle stop tour, an enterprising reporter should set up an interview with Mike Pence. A series of questions with maybe a few backup ones can be asked of him.
If Trump wants to ride shotgun, so be it.
Mind you, it might resemble that 60 mins interview, but be advised that like snowflakes and identical twins, all media interviews aren’t alike.
Hey, at least he is not accusing Hillary Clinton of being behind this because Trump is a strong woman. So this is somewhat of an improvement from Manafort.
But at the same time…its painfully obvious that Manafort has not meaningful control over Trump…in any fashion.
Manafort: Melania did not crib anything…
Trump: Melania totally cribbed it
Manafort: Trump did not say that about NATO, its taken out of context
Trump: I totally said that about NATO
In your scenario, the party elders should be giving up on Manafort as well. Trump is just completely uncontrollable. The Melanina plagerism issue goes to the very heart of that. Manafort got a credible RNC staffer to provide a draft speech for her to give. Trump/Melania tossed it in the garbage on just the basic principle that anything from “establishment” people should be discarded. And the rest followed. And then predictably, when the amateurs blew it up, they send Manafort out to do damage control and right in the middle of his spin…they refute his spin and admit that yep, we totally stole it from Michelle.
I agree that Manafort won’t resign (probably not anyway), but its because of the money and the payback he is expecting after this campaign…not because he has any delusions of steering the Trump ship.
But it seems it DOES NOT MATTER – he can and will continue to say up is down (sorry, Rudy) and it will be reported as ‘he said’ with ‘up is up’ being ‘the other side.’ Will the holy press reboot at some point before this dumpster fire burns us all? I fear not, and so I fear.
