My personal opinion is that IF the feral trumpers even recognized the looming chaos and destruction to this country, they did it as revenge to those of us who had the audacity to vote for a Black man to the WH for 8 years. Rump is their idea of payback with no thought whatsoever as to how it might be bad for them.
As I said sometime after he was elected, he was a human molotav cocktail thrown at the country.
mondfledermaus I think Pence is every bit as trecherous as Rump. However, he doesnât have that much appeal to feral trumpers and I think that may be why the GOP hasnât jettisoned Rump yet. They may be trying to milk whatever feral trumper appeal until the midterms.
I remember reading an article late last summer in the NY Times in which a investigative reporter traveled to coal country in West Virginia and interviewed folks in small towns about why they were voting for Trump. One man commented, âI know he is going to get us all killed but we need a change and thatâs why I am voting for Trump.â Obviously smart enough to recognize the perils of his vote and accepting the consequences.
Never underestimate the power of memes and how they play upon peopleâs real or perceived injustices. We do so at our peril.
Oh forâŚlook, he doesnât WANT allies. He doesnât think he NEEDS allies. All he WANTS is to win and to do that, people must DO WHAT THEYâRE TOLD, even when he doesnât tell them.
Trump places personal loyalty from others over any oath to the U.S. Constitution, professionalism, ethics, common sense, decency, legality, appropriateness, and/or optics. Remember the argument that Trump lacked âtemperamentâ to be President?
I really believe thatâs true.
So much of what his minions do is motivated by nothing other than a desire to âstick it to those g-d liberalsâ - nothing else seems to matter to them other than petty revenge. I honestly donât see the corresponding sentiment on the left (at least not very often).
And these are the people weâre supposed to empathize with because theyâre having such a hard time adjusting to modern life?
I say fvck that.
They have enabled this pathetic punk (PeePee!) - now they can reap their just rewards as far as Iâm concerned. They deserve nothing less.
Trump himself plans to live-tweet the event, according to a Washington Post report.
This is the best news possible. The idiot will probably inadvertnetly confirm everything Comey says and possibly go even beyond what Comey actually testifies about.
The administration has reportedly enlisted a number of Trump allies to make the media rounds to push back on Comeyâs testimony, and Trump himself plans to live-tweet the event, according to a Washington Post report.
I thought he was supposed to be speaking at some fundamentalist gathering during Comeyâs testimony. Is that incorrect, or did he change it so he could keep those stubby little fingers busy on the tweet machine?
For pro-Trumpers itâs a win-win. If he actually did all the things he promised during the campaign? Great! If he doesnât, at least he will âshake things up.â Total chaos is Plan B but the pro-Trumpers are still down with it.
Trump thinks Sessionsâ recusal was unnecessary because, to Trump, everyone elseâs ethics, personal integrity, political capital, and public reputation are disposable in service of whatever Trump wants. Granted, it feels strange to use the words ethics and integrity in the same sentence as Jeff Sessions but you have to concede that the man has standards somewhere higher on the scale than Trumpâs.
People who donât possess the public trust and credibility to do what they want need to use proxies who do. As people like Colin Powell learned, when you place your own reputation and credibility in service of bullshit you put all of the traits that made you a credible proxy at risk. As everyone who works for Trump is learning, no one gets out of this with their reputation and self-respect intact.
