The mad dogs, the rabid vermin who comprise Trumpâs base may very well see House Democratsâ oversight duties as an act of warâŚseriously. Trump will ramp up the violent rhetoric, claiming that Democrats are the ones breaking the law and that theyâre drafting legislation to open the borders and to take away every gun in the country. This could get really bad.
My point is theyâd rather run against a sitting democrat in 2020 than have Harris as an incumbent.
Unless I am misunderstanding this statement, I think it isnât true. Republicans want a new election, but only if they can also have a new primary to select a new candidate. (The reason for this, I think, is that they know Harris might very well lose a new election.) Had Republicans maintained control of the House, I have no doubt that they would have seated Harris, tainted or not.
