Discussion: Top GOPers: Sorry Trump, Flag Burning's Protected By The First Amendment

Yes that’s the engine driving it - they just won’t budge off a lie and you’re right - after awhile there is so much nobody knows anymore what is and isn’t true and now people just decide what they will believe with no regard for facts.

And that’s one reason all of this feels so surreal to people who are still able to think.

I read a piece on Kos that the Russians had tried to seed leftwing sites with fake news but we never fell for it for long.

It happened in the UK on Guy Fawkes Night—all over the country.

Two more SCOTUS judges and good by to all of that. The only part of the First Amendment that needs protecting in Trump world is unlimited political campaign spending.

In his Neck of the woods, you should fear for your safety if you exercise your rights. Great.

If only we could waterboard them all until they admit how much they hate their country.

You never saw a wad of cash burn a flag.

That’s spelled Il Douche.

FYI, the recommended method for destruction for a damaged flag is burning.

Found this and had to share!

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE STAR OF THE INTERNET TODAY.

Cary Elwes (aka Westley from The Princess Bride) responded to a Tweet from the President-Elect … and called him "Prince Trumperdink".

For which he was subsequently blocked by the Donald.

POLITE GOLF CLAP, EVERYBODY!

Supreme Court precedent declaring flag burning as protected speech aside…it appears The Don is also ignorant of the fact that the US government can’t just revoke one’s citizenship. Exile is not a thing under our Constitution.

There are several ways for one to voluntarily renounce one’s citizenship but only one for the government to forcibly take it from you: formally convict you of treason.

I can’t believe we are dealing with this shit every day.

I really believe that Trump is about the equivalent of an 11-year-old who is just repeating really easily understood right-wing talking points because he thinks it impresses the grown-ups. In his own mind, this is “Presidential”. There’s really zero depth to it other than that.

It should be happening right now! The expected response to Trump’s flag BS will likely be the burning of flags all over the world today. I’d consider lighting one up myself but I don’t have one.

And what’s with McCarthy’s threat about being afraid for their own safety if they burn a flag, and his nonsense about “where I come from”. He comes from California, the bluest state in the country. Though his area out in the desert isn’t representative of that, obviously.

Agree there.

No, but you can be picked up late at night, put on a plane to a black site prison in Turkey, followed by the government denying any knowledge or responsibility for your absence or whereabouts.

I honor the people in uniform far more than any symbol.
If a luminary of the stature of Antonin Scalia says burning the flag is protected speech then Hair Fuhrer should take it to heart since Scalia is his benchmark.

O god. These are our new Overlords you know - just these people and their ilk.

I’m still looking for an opium den I can just move into…

In July of 2015 I posted that the derp would grow exponentially up to the election. I had not anticipated that WSC would win. Because he did the derp will continue to increase…Daily, hourly even such that his most egregious actions may seem to be normal.

(WSC = Walking Shitgibbon Clusterfuck)

Apparently oxycontin is easily available these days.

Notice how well fed your examples of “true patriots” are.
