Discussion: Top GOP Senate Nominee: Kavanaugh Accusations 'Absurd' Because 'They Were Teenagers,' Assault 'Never Went Anywhere'

Good lord. I don’t expect the right to be honest, fair or logical but isn’t there a single so-called journalist or a Dem or even a pitiful republican woman who can IT’S LESS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED 30 YEARS AGO - IT’S ABOUT HOW YOU’RE HANDLING THE ACCUSATION TODAY. DENIAL ISN’T A DEFENSE.

The number of rich Republican elites who’ve managed to out themselves as rapey assholes who are suddenly petrified that sexual assaults they long since thought they’d gotten away with could come back to haunt them is astonishing.

If anyone has had the stomach to watch, Erick Erickson has particularly distinguished himself by the nearly audible high pitched note of borderline hysterical fear.

I wonder what might be the best way to convince @RepKevinCramer that a rape that stops short of penetration is still terrifying violent assault?

I’m thinking Erick son of Erick might has just learned that, in many states, there is NO statute of limitation on rape.

What are you scared of, Erick?

I want to thank Cramer for making Heitkamp’s decision the easiest ever to the point where it will deliver her the margin of victory over him. The Democrats are going to hold all their incumbent seats and win 4 GOP held seats (NV/AZ/TN/TX).

Rep. Cramer is (partially) right! It does seem to be very hard (for Republicans) to get non-harassing, non-assaulting, non-raping, non-pedophile candidates these days.

Remember when experts were saying that the 2018 midterms was a godsend for Senate Republicans. #goodtimes

In the words that George Costanza uttered upon seeing Elaine Benes dancing for the first time, “Sweet Fancy Moses!”

It does seem to be a widespread belief among Republicans that it is unreasonable not to expect teenage boys to at least TRY to assault the young women around them.

Democrats beware. The GOP doesn’t give a shit what we think. Expect more of the same until people get off there asses and vote.

"…if you have to have a perfect record in junior high and high school.”

Oh yeah, it’s just so hard to have a perfect record of, you know, not sexually assaulting anyone. Funny how many people manage it.

It’s truly incredible how confident Republicans are that their side is ALWAYS innocent and the other side is ALWAYS guilty, and that the only purpose of an investigation is to prove that Democrats are guilty of whatever Hannity says they did. Trump could shoot each of their mothers on live TV and they’d just find a way of blaming Crooked Hillary while insisting that Trump couldn’t have done it because he said he didn’t and there aren’t any witnesses who aren’t biased against him.

Sadly, if I had a nickle for every comment posted today insisting that Kavanaugh must be innocent because he says he’s innocent and his victim must be lying because you can’t be a witness to your own rape; I’d be a rich man.

Hear that, guys?! According to the GOP, if you’re a teenager, you can get rapey on whoever the hell you want!
I can see the GOP is still the party of family values.

“It was legitimate sexual assault.”

Remember in 1991 during the Clarence Thomas hearings, which this clown unhappily referenced like the idiot he is, when the Republicans (in particular) were saying all that clueless stuff and “They just don’t get it” became a catchphrase? Here we are 27 years later, 27 years, and they still don’t get it—they get it even less. Any woman who talks to you honestly will get you up to speed—harassment and rape happen. They happen a lot. But these clowns never saw the memo about the TPS reports or the rape or the harassment and I guess they never will. Shaking. My. Head.

I think Charles Blow did exactly what you said, but with a few more words…

And this is just another Republican proving how fkn stupid they can be-

it was “an attempt or something that never went anywhere.”

I am still amazed that the party of law and order has so quickly forgotten that just because an act wasn’t successful doesn’t mean that it’s still not criminal.

EDIT- Listen to the video. Charles Blow is a man still living with this act as if it happened yesterday. The next time someone opens their mouth the criticize a victim of an assault, they should be made to watch this.

I think what most astonishes me is that these clowns are so busy throwing red meat to their base, they seem to forget that everyone else is listening, too.

I find it hard to comment on this story until I hear the informed opinion of Todd Akin.
