Discussion for article #222255
I donât think we ought to pay Congressmen. They should do the work for love of their country.
i love how coburn is just given whatever time he needs to spout his talking points without any challenge whatsoever from the panel. and now up is booby woodward with his big reveal how obama is so isolated and distant from senate democrats and scrambling to make nice to keep the senate majority.
oh yeah ⌠and⌠scarbro went on a rant about BENGHAZIBENGHAZIBENGHAZIâŚ
i was thinking about that⌠how about a petition to adjust congressional pay based on the days they actually work â not fundraising; not on those âfact-findingâ (taxpayer funded) excursions they routinely take â but actual days in session. or perhaps based upon their presence at hearings and votes.
Same song, different year.
I can remember arguing with a right winger during the Bush years about this issue - over 7 years ago. Republicans donât believe there should be a minimum standard in getting hourly wages. And they sure as hell donât think it should ever be raised.
Why the public accepts this, Iâll never understand.
And yet $174,000 a year is too little pay for these poor, poor bastards.
"I donât believe you ought to interfere in the market."
What a heartless, deluded assâŚ
Tomâs vast push me pullyou cornservative intellect surmises that moneyâs âbenefit is smallââŚSo SCOTUSâ winger activist decision that speech equals money was an effort to silence billionaires in âthe free (snicker!) marketâ???
This is 12 dimensional chess stuff, Tom. Bring it down to Earth for us average folk.
Reading this makes me believe in the guillotine!
I couldnât agree with you more!!!
âThe fact is if you look at the OMB studies and you look at the good economic models, the benefit is small. The cost of lost jobs is great,â he added. âIt goes against the free market principle ⌠We donât know what the minimum wage should be. Howâd they pick $10.10? Why not $22? Why not $100?â
Once someone starts making this argument, you know you are dealing with a clown. Well, if one aspirin works, why not 100? Do I really need to answer that question?
The real question is: Should a person who works hard 40 hours/week, 50 weeks/year be at or below the poverty level? Yes or no?
Take away politicians expenses , make them live on their â wages â .
He doesnât believe there should be a national minimum wage? Well, I donât believe the Senate should have a Tom Coburn. Fair is fairâŚ
nothing new here. if you look at his history, he also doesnât think much of labor unions, child labor laws, or just about any progressive measure since the turn of the previous century. as for the death penalty, I believe heâs on record as favoring it for any doctor who has ever performed an abortion. the only mystery is why he gets taken seriously.
His comment and this republican argument reminds me of a Chris Rock line where he states being paid minimum wage is your bosseâs way of saying âIf I could pay you less than I wouldâ. As another poster pointed out and the President has said no one working full time in this country should live in poverty. Republicans are soul-less money hungry evil people.
The economy hasnât been right since the stupid liberals rammed their crazy Thirteenth Amendment down the countryâs throat.
Of course you donât believe there ought to be a minimum wage, I bet you think we should bring back child labor and work houses. So Senator whatâs your opinion on slavery?
Help me out hereâŚ
The rationale is:
âIâm an Okie and I gotta be a Conservative, even if it means not having enough money to live, so Iâll vote for Coburn?â
WTF???
Poor republicans have fâd themselves so many times they have gotten to where they really like it.
Of course you donât Mr Coburn, you wouldnât be a republican if you thought people should be paid a decent wage now would you. You POS.
the scarborough show is only watched by reporters too lazy to find real news and losers who are not smart enough to change the channel.
